.........or at least that's what Jill's oncologist is calling this.  I, on the other hand, am of course totally freaked.  I woke up in the middle of the night to find Jill asleep in a pool of urine, soaking wet on my bed.  She has never peed outside of the litter box, with the exception of the one time she had to wear a cone and was afraid to jump off the bed while I was at work during the day because she couldn't see.

Oncologist said it is common for animals on chemo to get UTI's, but her last chemo was 6 weeks ago.  I asked her if that mattered and she said no, but you know my paranoia is running a mile a minute.  She is acting totally normal, wanted her treats the second I woke up to get ready for work.  The oncologist told me to bring her in for a urinalysis and culture & sensitivity  so we can take care of it quickly if it is indeed some type of infection.  I just dropped her off and had to leave her there as her bladder wasn't full enough to do it right away and also her regular vet wants to do a general exam just to check everything is ok and didn't have an appointment until later.

Meh.

Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. And the good thing is, based on all your blogs, your onco is really cutting edge and knows what she's doing. If she thinks it's due to chemo you can almost be guaranteed she's spot on:-) :-) Of course you're gonna worry.....that's just the nature of this "stuff". She's certainly not showing. ANY signs of any other issues so I know you'll be relieved when the onco. gets her on her medicine.

Otherwise, Jill may just be getting a little lazy and you'll. Have to get some really styling' kitty pee pee diapers and we would, indeed, want pictures:-) :-)

Look forward to our update, Sally and Happy Hannah

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

OK, b r e a t h e

Do not panic over something that isn't diagnosed yet. A UTI is nothing serious if you get it treated right away, as you are doing now.

b r e a t h e

Sally said it best; she is getting the best care, by the smartest doctor, and things will be OK.

I'm sorry for the scare though, I can imagine how you must have felt when you woke up. {{{hugs}}}}

It's a very good sign she is still doing everything she usually does.  I will echo the others....breathe....try not to worry (sounds so silly to say cuz I would be doing the same) and know she's in good hands at the doc's and at home.

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13.  Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14.  She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self.  Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14

I typed a very clever and stress relieving post.... but it got dumped what-ever.

Maggie had at least one UTI during her 6 months of chemo.  Quad pug Tani peed on herself and my bed a couple months ago- and she never pees in the house.  I was thinking she was becoming incontinent, she is almost 13.  But no, she had a UTI.  A course of anitbiotics cleared it up and she hasn't had an issue since.

Dang- you really missed out on a witty post...stupid computer!

All will be well. How scary for you, but it sounds like something common and easily treated. Phew!

Spirit Shooter was a Miniature Australian Shepherd who was diagnosed with a MCT and had a LF amp 1/28/13 at 13-1/2 years old.

Shooter crossed the Bridge on 8/28/13, his 7 month ampuversary and two weeks from his 14th birthday.

Oh no! I just saw this. But I'm breathing now cause a UTI is not that bad, you and pretty Jill can fix that. With some antibiotics. Let us now how she is! And you.

My Isadora & Bella send hugs!

ha ha, Salt, I was JUST going to make the update......

So the good news is, Jill's vet did a sonogram of her bladder and all looks ok.

The other news is the urinalysis shows small traces of bacteria and a small amount of white blood cells.  So, that points to a "maybe" uti.  But, the amount was so small, it's not definite.  We have to wait for the culture to come back, which takes a few days.  For now, she's started on an antibiotic.

She did gain 4 ounces, which is great and when I got to the vet she was hanging out on the receptionists desk getting a belly rub.  She's such a trooper my little baby.  I am just so upset by how I saw her this morning, I can't get it out of my head, but I am trying to focus on how great she is doing now.

Thanks for all of your kind words....
