Hi everyone! This site has been SO helpful with our journey for our tripawd Buddy who just got his right front leg removed due to sarcoma cancer. He is now 4 days post op and this morning we were concerned with what looks like deep purple areas in his boy region. I was reading the other posts that this is quite common but it seems to be getting worse and we want to make sure this is not something more serious!
There's so many people here with knowledge that I was wondering if a few of you could take a look and tell me if this should be a matter of concern. We did visit our vet this afternoon and she told us that since the top part of his body is all wrapped right now the blood is pooling down and will even out.
But it still looks so scary and seems to be getting worse! 🙁
Hi Buddy and family, welcome to the club nopawdy wants to join. Sorry you got the cancer diagnosis. Is it osteosarcoma?
Bruising is quite normal and yes it often gets worse before it gets better, but if your vet saw it this morning and is aware of the situation try to keep calm, it's likely going to subside soon. I can't really tell you my opinion about Buddy's bruising since I'm not a vet but it looks very normal based on what I've seen here. Generally if it turns brownish colors, then there's a problem but overall Buddy's looks typical. Scary I know, but typical. Keep your vet in the loop so they know what's going on and can keep you calm OK?
And anytime you need anything at all don't hesitate, that's why we are here.

Bruising always goes down with gravity, so that makes sense...make sure that the area is soft and the same temperature as the surrounding area (not hotter), if it starts to get firm I would worry about a hematoma.
