Hi All
Just thought I would post an update to say /forums/treatment-and-recovery/breeze-osteosarcoma-bullmastiff/?value=Breeze&type=1&include=1&search=1&ret=all
Lets hope the Chemo has the desired effect she will be having 4 doses then I'm going to let her be, I think that she needs to just live for today and what will be will be and we will deal with it as it happens. Lets hope she stays free from cancer for a long time!!!
Then we can focus on having fun rather than the cancer.
Wishing all your pups well !!
Rhys & Breeze
It's great to hear that Breeze is recovering well.
You have my complete support and encouragement to live for today. It's a great attitude.
Looking forward to hearing more good news about Breeze.

What a great attitude you have! It's amazing how often (at least in my case) my view on the whole cancer thing changes. I'm now to the "as long as he wants to be here, i guess we can let him stick around" phase 🙂 🙂 Glad you came to terms with it a lot sooner than I did!! Best BEST wishes for Breeze, and for you!

I'm sorry you don't like the veggies and stuff. How is your Mom cooking or not cooking them? I liked my grated up real fine. Wyatt Ray get his cooked into a stew. Maybe you'd like that better? Remember, eat the healthy stuff so you can be with us and your family for a loooonnnng time!
Your Mom has a really great attitude about things, with that kind of upbeat way of coping, you two can do anything.
We are so proud of you! Keep us posted OK?

So far so good she just seems to have lost a bit of appetite..

Rhys & Breeze,
Thanks for the great update. Since that first chemotherapy dose was Tuesday, my vast experience base (one - Cherry) would tell me that you are probably just past the worst of any side effects regarding the appetite. Cherry did not just lose a bit of appetite, it disappeared. So, it is good to hear that Breese only lost a bit. Each successive dose was a little easier, but not very much. The one remaining question is how is the blood count doing? I would presume that they will want to test, and for some it is the main side effect. We will hope that like Cherry, Breese will not have any drop.
I have to say that your approach was much like mine - full bore with the chemo then let them enjoy their life. We had a spectacular 405 days after the amputation, but to put it in better perspective, Cherry was eleven the day before her amputation and anything beyond ten is considered "borrowed time". Thus, she "beat the odds" in so many ways and we will be pulling for Breeze to do the same.

They want to do a blood test 10 - 14 days after the chemo, so we won't know for another week. Thanks for the advise on turning the vegies into a stew, I cooked them up today and added some beef stock, then hey all gone from the bowl in 10 min. Glad to see her eating them again.
I think that chemo must leave a strange taste in the mouth as she seems to not like the cottage cheese and flax seed oil which before the chemo she loved. I am hoping that se will start eating it again soon.
Very strange though, when we try and get her out she jumps wags her tain and runs to the door. when we get outside she walks 5 yards and lies down, then wont get up. This only started since the chemo, it is possable that this treatment can cause some sort of balance problems?
Thanks for all the support. Lets all keep our bits crossed for Breeze to beat the odds.
Oh yea and we realised yesterday that she is only 7 not 8 as we thought. oops adding a year to the paw girl 🙂
Breeze is a beautiful big girl!

Love the pictures of Breeze!! He's adorable!! Glad to hear he's gotten his appetite back... Hope he keeps doing better and better each day!
As for the getting tired just after 5 minutes of being outside, I would think that's pretty normal for a tripawd post-op... My Jake used to get very tired after just going out to do his stuff... in time, he built up more stamina and was able to swim and play for much longer... but never to the point of how he was before the cancer/surgery...

What great PICS of Breeze!!
Jack used to get very tired after walking for about 5 minutes...those big boys have to build that stamina back up. Jack also lost some appetite and lost quite a bit of weight. I started mixing in Puppy and Wet Puppy food with his meals... his appetite came back really fast after that. And now is at his weight before amputation. Sending pawsitive thoughts your way

Breeze is a very pretty girl! Yes, it is not unusual for dogs to get a little tired or weak following chemo. Tazzie used to be a little down for the first week after a chemo injection and then she perked up again. Sometimes she would get a little soft stool which was well-controlled with probiotics (we used FortiFlora by Purina).

I'm so sorry! I called Breeze a 'he' when it should have been a 'she'!!!! So... how is SHE doing today?!!
