Boomer is going to spending an additional night at the Hospital, she is set to come home tomorrow morning at 9am EDT. I just saw her a few minutes ago and like everyone said it is not a pretty thing to behold especially 24 hours after surgery . But Boomer is so beautiful one does even look at the surgery sight, just her beautiful eyes( stoned as she is lol). She was walking or I should say more of a hopping (watch out rabbits you are not the only ones who can hop now)with the aid of a sling. She was of course making a moaning sound which is as I understand quite normal, heck I would probably howling if it were me. I hope and pray that she will indeed do well and I will heed all the advise regarding REST. Many many thanks

another night of supervision at the hospital is probably a good thing - she'll be home before you know it!! that gives you more time to stock up on treats, ice cream, cheese, beef trachias, green beans, etc. glad she is doing well, it will be much better once she's off the meds..remember the next two weeks are 'hell weeks'. now go get some rest, you'll need it!!
gayle & charon
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Denali had her surgery last Thurs (July 1) and she's now just starting to hop like a tripawd instead of a bunny rabbit. Another night of supervision is not a bad thing - get your sleep while you can (I feel like a zombie today!!).

Yep the moaning or other "vocalizing" sounds normal and could last a few days due to the meds. My Yoda (before Gerry) did almost constant whining from his post-surgery meds (not from pain - the incision was sensitive to the touch) for the first couple days home and that was so strange, because he was such a quiet boy normally. Hang in there Boomer's Dad!
Gerry has been a tripawd since 12/16/2009.
He was a shelter dog with a mysterious past and an irrepairable knee injury.
Videos and pics of Gerry's pawesomeness can be found at: http://gerry.tripawds.com
My girl, Tasha, did a lot of crying during the first week and half but as soon I took her off her pain meds all crying stopped. Those pain meds can have some pretty weird affects on them. Best of luck for a speedy recovery Boomer.

Oh good, it'll be a good thing for all of you. Hang in there and get your rest tonight OK? Pawsitive thoughts coming your way.

That's probably a good thing that Boomer is staying one more night. We had Mackenzie stay an extra night just to be sure that she was going to be ok coming home and that we were more prepared for her coming home. It sounds like she's doing pretty well considering what she just went through. Best of luck - we are keeping our paws crossed for Boomer! Would love to see some pictures of your beautiful girl .
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
It's a good thing that Boomer is staying at the vet's for another nite...
The only reason we got to take Jake home the same day of his surgery was that I was a certified vet tech for many years... and my hubby was a vet assistant before his latest gig... If I could, I would have even been in the o.r. assisting... but my vet said no way... No family in the o.r.!!!
Angel Jake and Wolfie's Mom
Jake, 10yr old golden retriever (fractured his front right leg on 9/1, bone biopsy revealed osteosarcoma on 9/10, amputation on 9/17) and his family Marguerite, Jacques and Wolfie, 5yr old german shepherd and the newest addition to the family, Nala, a 7mth old Bengal mix kittie. Jake lost his battle on 11/9/2009, almost 8 weeks after his surgery. We will never forget our sweet golden angel… http://jakesjou.....ipawds.com ….. CANCER SUCKS!
