Well we just picked up Boomer and have brought her home. She is doing reasonably well, she eat a little chicken and rice when she got home. She is of course moaning from time to time but who would'nt after such a procedure. She went out to the back yard but did not stay for more than a few minutes. Right now she is resting on her bed but not sleeping. The wound is not so pretty to look at but not so bad either besides it's her beautiful eyes that one always looks at first. The scabbing is starting already and so hopefully she is on her way to full recovery. She peed outside this morning or so I was told by the Vet's. Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers. I am unsure of how to put a picture of Boomer on the forum.
Many thanks
Boomer and Ruben's Dad
Great to hear that Boomer is home now and doing well. As I'm sure you've read, these first couple of weeks are going to be tough at times and it's taking it one day at a time during this recovery. I was going to suggest if she's a front leg amputee, having her wear a T-shirt to cover her incision was a very helpful tip that I got. It protects the incision and keeps them from scratching it. I had Mackenzie wear a t-shirt every day up until her stitches were removed. You'll find lots more helpful tips on this website too.
Keeping our paws crossed for Boomer and hoping her recovery is a smooth one!
Kami (Mackenzie's mom)
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
So happy that Boomer is back at home with you. I hope your recovery will be uneventful and soon Boomer will up running and just amazing you everyday.

Tasha lost her battle and became my Angel on May 4 2011. Forever in my heart….
Great news! If Boomer was depressed, being home should certainly make a big difference. Lots of good thoughts coming your way!

Glad to hear Boomer is doing better!!
I'm not sure how much bruising Boomer has, but Denali's is not nearly as visable a week later (if that was a concern of yours). I know with Denali I've kept a journal of what kind of days she has had (keeping track of if she eats and when she potties and such) and I've been taking daily pictures of the incision (and of Denali's smiling face).

Here you go!
Meanwhile, brace yourself, it will be difficult these next few days, but like you said, focus on her beautiful face and give her all of the love and confidence that she needs to heal. You have a great outlook on this, and she will be fine.

So glad Boomer is home…I don't remember if I gave you the harness suggestion, but if not, get a ruffwear harness, they are terrific!!!! and maybe some non skid rugs if you don't alrealdy have them!!
Rest when you can….the first couple of weeks can be difficult. Magic's wound was wrapped and we were able to use the harness right away but check with your vet to see what they say.
Yep, there's no place like home, regardless of what lies ahead, at least Boomer is with you, what great feeling. Hang on for the ride, but it's all worth it once the roughparts over, paws up, Gus and Dan
My buddy Gus had a left front amputation on April 7, 2010 and lived a great life until July 26,2010
