In my pawrents profile picture you will see me in my harness while out on a walk. I was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in my left wrist in August and as you can see that pain is no more. I went for my round 4 chemo and my counts were on the low end of normal so we waited 10 days. I have completed the 4th round of Chemo on Carboplatin as of this past Wednesday. This round seems to really have me sluggish. Is this normal? I am not sure if I played a little to hard the first couple of days after my treatment and possibly pulled something or what. Just wondering if any other pawrents have experienced this or any other Tripawds out there. Wondering when I will feel back to myself.
Hi there Bo! You sure are pretty! Hope you don't mind I moved your post here but this is a good place for talkin' about chemo.
Sorry to hear about your cancer diagnosis but look at you kickin' butt! When you say you might have played too hard, tell us about your playtime, what's it like? When was your amputation? Be sure to have your folks check out our Loving Life On Three Legs e-book to learn about keeping you strong and injury free, if they haven't already seen it.
Meanwhile, yes, chemo side effects from carboplatin can happen 7-10 days out in some dogs, this isn't uncommon and you'll see when others chime in that their dogs also had some effects like this. If your Momma is really worried always have her call the vet so they know what's going on. Overall though it sounds normal. How's your appetite? Are you going potty OK? No other side effects? You sure sound like you're doing pretty good otherwise!

Hi Bo!
Tell your pawrents hello from another Boxer lover! So so sorry that yet another pet is here and needed an amputation but we think you look gorgeous and GREAT after having yours! Sorry to hear that you may be having a bit of trouble after chemo but we will keep our paws crossed over here that you and every other pet here gets better soon!!!! We'd love to see more pics if you get the time!
Feel better soon (sorry we can't offer advice - our cat had an amputation so unfortunately no advice to offer and just lots of Boxer slurps and well wishes!)

Hi Bo...my dobe Nitro also had osteo in his front wrist and had surgery. That was 18 months ago! He had 6 rounds of carbo; halfway through we had to increase the time between treatments from 3 to 4 weeks to let his white count recover. When you say he may have overdone it playing...what does that mean? We came to discover Nitro needed chiropractic adjustments to help him with his new gait - he was in a lot of pain before that. Now he gets them every 4 weeks, and is doing great. Keep us posted on your gorgeous boy!

Nitro 11 1/2 yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms. Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

Hello and thanks all for the input. Don' mind at all that this got put where it belongs.
I have a big sis Nala, the lab, that is 13 yrs old and hanging strong. I like to play with her and I sometimes don't understand that I only have 3 legs to run on so I just go and go. I am the typical girl boxer. I have 2 modes, On and On, oops i meant Off.
My appetite, well lets just say I enjoy my food times. However, usually a couple days after my Chemo a little chicken broth helps make it palatable for me and then all things are back to normal. All my necessary functions seem to be functioning as normal or so my pawrents think. I had my surgery back in August this year and I am approximately 1.5 yrs old. I just don't feel like jumping on things like I normally do and they were concerned. They keep trying to figure out where it hurts but I am not even sure where it hurts. They seem to think I won't let them know just because I like the rub downs, hehe.
I heard them say they would give me a day or 2 more and if not better I might need to go see the Dr. again just to make sure something else isn't wrong. They keep trying to tell me to rest and take it easy but like I mentioned I only have 2 modes.
I do appreciate all the comments and help on making it through this journey. I will try to get some pics up soon.
Bo
