Hi friends!

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this somewhat strange situation.

Starting about 3 weeks ago, Mac will be lying down - on the couch, bed or floor - and all of a sudden, his back legs will start ferociously spasming, almost like he is running. He is totally awake and it is only his back legs.

Some context: He is about 9 months out from his front leg amputation surgery. He had clean scans in November, but we haven't been back for more scans since. He seems totally fine, otherwise.

He will be 12 on Sunday!

Anyway, I called the vet and left a message but just wanted to see if anyone here had any ideas.

Thanks for reading!

We adopted Mac in June 2014 from the GRCGLAR and he is our little baby boy, despite the fact that he is 11.5! Almost a year of bliss turned into complete devastation when he started limping on his front right  leg and it was discovered on April 16, 2015 that he has bone cancer - specifically Osteosarcoma. We were luckily directed to Tripawds by our oncologist, Dr. Avenelle Turner, which changed our lives and guided us through the amputation process.

First of all HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAC!! A tselve year old Golden Tripawd deserves a celebration all week!! Steak and ice cream starting now!

It's wonderful to hear he is dping so well (except for "leg running")!

Is it possible he has tweaked something in his back that is maybe messing with his nerves? Just throwing stuff out there. Equilibrium okay? No balance issues? Could be some "neurological" going in as he proceeds into seniorhood.

I actually ppsted under Ask a Vet because Merry Myrtle was having "twitches" with her legs while she was laying down and awake. Not nearly as pronounced as Mac is having but enough to shake the bed a little when it happens.

Here's that link. http://tripawds.....-of-cause/

Maybe others can chime in with more insight.

Good to hear from you! Mac really hit the lottery when you adopted him! So it's also been over a year since you adopted him, right? So a belated HAPPY ADOPTAVERSARY!

Hugs to all!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

That's what we are thinking! The vet just called back and says it could just be a 'weird' thing. It doesn't seem like a seizure because he is staring at me and totally alert while he's doing it. I also rush over to put my hand on his leg in an attempt to stop it, and it stops. I thought maybe it was a sign of *arousal* since the last time he did it (before last night), a lady dog was over and they were playing and Mac was trying to, erm, you know, mount her. Then he jumped on the couch and his legs were going crazy! But last night we were just laying in bed and all of the sudden his legs were frantically kicking me while he just looked at me.

I try to massage his legs after, but who knows if that is actually helping or not. He is so stoic so I just hope he isn't in pain!

Yay Mac! Not only are you just KICKIN BUTT, but you're trying to be a LADIES MAN too? AT TWELVE? YAAAAY!!! Love you dude, glad that things are going great, it's nice to hear from you!

If it's not accompanied by any pain indicators like mobility issues, lack of appetite, being clingy, then I wouldn't worry about it. If it worries you though, Mac's rehab vet will be the best person to talk to about it.

Give your amazing awesome doggie a big smooch from us!!!! HOPPY BIRTHDAY MAC!!!!!
