Still here! In fact, yesterday and today have been fabulous! Someone in a past post mentioned Zeus's 'iron will' and I'm starting to think that is an accurate description. Whatever it is, I'll take it!
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Lisa, so glad to hear this! Was on vacation when you posted about the cancer spreading or would have posted sooner -- so very sorry to hear this-- I have loved Zeus since I saw his avatar and learned he was a snow hating husky May you and Zeus enjoy every moment, and I hope all his remaining days are good ones. He is something special (as are you).

Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011
Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011. Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs. If love alone could have saved you…
Go Zeus Go!!!! I am so happy that he is feeling good!
Suzie and Rizzo

Well, now these are the posts worth logging in for!! Zeus I just love you for your determination -- and of course the Crest smile. I keep telling Harley "if Zeus did it, so can you."
Harley is an 8 year old Golden Retriever. Amp surgery for an infiltrative lipoma canceled due to two masses in chest. A rescue, he found his forever home on 3/18/07 and left for his eternal home on 1/09/13. His story and medical history are at http://myharley.....pawds.com/

Yes! Harley can do it!!! That is one of the main reasons I keep posting updates - I truly hope that it does provide some small bit of hope to others that have received a less-than-optimistic prognosis. I vividly remember reading Angel Abby's blog and how she survived for over a year with lung mets and I also remember posts telling me to flip Zeus over and take a look at his butt because there is no date stamp there. And, you know what? THEY WERE RIGHT! Zeus has far far outlived the prognosis he was given and if he can do it, so can Harley and so can any other dog on this site.

You go, Zeus!!! What a tripawd warrior-keep smiling and enjoying every single second
Thinking of you,
Joan and Lily
Our beautiful Lily was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front leg on 12/14/11 at age 8 and had amp on 12/16/11. She completed 5 rounds of carbo. She was so brave and kicked cancer's butt daily! She lived life fully for 4 years, 3 months, and 15 days after her amp. My angel is a warrior princess. I miss her so much.
Hooray for Zeus, our Tripawd Warrior Dude!
Thank you for the mention of Angel Abby's blog. I'm so glad her story could provide some hope and inspiration - just like Zeus's story will inspire so many new folks here!!
Angel Abby is looking out for handsome older gentleman, Zeus. We all have a big soft spot for him!
I know you are showering him with kisses and love, but do you think you could squeeze in an extra kiss from me and my girls??
Jackie, Angel Abby & MBBunny Rita
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Good on Zeus. That is such wonderful news. Thanks for keeping us updated on his progress. He is a true Tripawd warrior.
Karen and Spirit Magnum
Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/
I keep checking every few days for an update on Zeus. So happy to hear he is continuing the fight and the past few days have been good. Keep fighting Mr. Smiles!
Kathy & Tasha
Tasha was a German ShepherdBorder Collie mix who was diagnosed with OSA at age 8. On December 29, 2011 she had her front right leg amputated and received 4 rounds of chemo. Sadly and suddenly Tasha became sick and we discovered she had liver cancer that had spread to her lung. After almost 19 months, Tasha earned her wings on July 17, 2013. No regrets and never forgotten.

He really is a shining light of hope for those of us wondering how long our babies will be with us.
That is very kind, amylou. Zeus is certainly not the dog that has survived the longest but he absolutely is the poster dog for not giving up hope and not falling prey to the "statistics" monster. For anyone not aware, Zeus had a lung met at the time of diagnosis which leads to a very poor prognosis - we were given hope for about six weeks. Eight and a half months later he is still here. And, let me tell you, 8.5 months with a Tripawd seems like SO much longer. I guess it's because you take the time to enjoy every moment and you just don't take the time for granted. You don't put things off anymore, instead you cram in every experience you can find. It is a blessing. I would be honored if his legacy is to provide hope.

Lisa, that is EXACTLY what it is all about. Perfectly said.
