THE MET IS STILL SINGLE!!!!!!!! And, to add some sprinkles to that icing, IT HAS NOT GROWN!!!!!
I am stunned, humbled and so incredibly happy. We are blessed. Unfortunately, the WBCs were too low and he didn't get his fifth chemo today. I am guessing that the low count is what has been causing him to pant a bit after moving around - which is sooooo much better than what I feared was causing the panting. All said, I will take the low WBCs and postponed chemo with enthusiasm considering the blessing we were given this morning on those x-rays.
Our vet is still very surprised and baffled, yet very pleased, that more mets haven't appeared. Apparently this is somewhat rare. I on the other hand now know what Zeus hears when he cocks his head as if listening to something that I just cannot seem to pick up with my puny human ears.... he is listening to Angel Abby as she whispers whatever secret she had for keeping that met lonely. Thank you, precious girl - please keep whispering!
Thank you all SOOOO very much for your prayers, crossed paws and good ju-ju!!! I've never known what qualifies a pup for the honor of the Tripawd Warrior title, but today I think Zeus has earned it. My Brave, Strong Boy. My Hero. My TriPawd Warrior.
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Hooray for good news!!!!
And, yes, I'm sure that Angel Abby is looking out for Zeus - we love him! I will have a word with her to keep it up!
Treats all around to celebrate!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
This is great news! I am so happy for both of you that you got the outcome you wanted. Now you can breathe and have an enjoyable weekend. I had another random creative moment when I read your post and was inspired to write another poem from the "DAMN THE METS" series...
DAMN THE METS: (Written by the dog’s perspective)
Today I went and heard some news.
Now I don’t know what to do.
Doctor said it was a met.
Mommy says this makes her blue.
Met, please don’t mingle.
Met, please stay single.
Met please stay small.
I need to be here for mom.
Met, please be gone.

Beth and Spirit Smilin' Sammy
Smilin' Sammy, March 16, 2004 – Dec. 5, 2011
Golden retriever, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2010 — right front leg amputated November 2010. He fought valiantly to stay with us; but a second diagnosis of osteosarcoma, this time in his left front leg, was more than our golden warrior could overcome. He loved his pack — and everyone else he met.
We loved him even more.
Thanks for the pennies, Sammy. They helped.
Thank you all! We did celebrate with french fries although they were from Chick-fil-a and the waffle shape confused him a bit...

Yipee! Single Met!!! We are having pumpkin pie in your honor tonight.
(Pumpkin pie with oodles of whipped cream is Monkeybutt Samsons new favorite treat)
Spirit Samson was Spirit Tripawd Daisys four legged "brother" and ruled as the self proclaimed head of the Monkeybutt Federations East Coast Division. Lady Chunky Monkey stayed from Oct 2011 and left for the bridge in Apr 2012. Miss Perdy is left and has some big pawprints to fill.
