So happy that all went well! As far as resting, will she rest if you do? (That's a hint: take a nap.)
Daisy, 12 years young, had left forelimb amp on 5/19/2010 due to osteosarcoma. She left her body behind and joined the other spirit tripawds on 7/16/2010.
So grateful for each day with her!
Lexi (Daisy's momma)
Denali looks great, nice job on the surgeons part as the incision looks super. I think it was a great idea to post those pics, what a super way to prep those undergoing the same thing in a few days.
Keep up the good work Denali - you look maaaaarvelous. Good to see you're eating too, now if you can just find a way to ditch the cone.
Laura and Tai Dog
Tai – 9 yr old lab. Diagnosed Osteosarcoma Dec 18/09. Front right leg amputated Dec 21/09. Started chemo Jan 7/10. Lung mets discovered Sept 16/10. Valiant to the end on Oct 26/10 when cancer reappeared in a leg and we made the decision to set her free. Forever in my heart where not even cancer can take her from me.
Denali's getting around a LITTLE better today - she's still figuring things out. I'm glad I saw her at the vets office when she had things figured out because yesterday bringing her home, she was so out of it!! Today the incision area still looks ok - but there's a lot of bruising in her tummy area. I'll try to get some pictures.

Those are two lovely dogs.
Trouble's bruising continued to get worse for a few days after she came home. Never was a problem, just looked bad.

Not to worry... this type of bruising and swelling is normal. Thanks for sharing to help others know what to expect.

I didn't know to expect the bruising. When she was sitting it looked like her guts were coming out of the incision - I now know what a heart attack feels like. My dad was over and level headed and helped me take a better look at her tummy and realize it was just a bruise.

Your furry friends are gorgeous! Here's to continued healing and feeling whole.

Denali looks great! We're so glad to hear she's doing so well! Hugs to both Denali and Loki, from Holly's pack.
Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!

I'm so sorry you didn't know to expect the bruising. That would be a fright. Dr F warned us to expect it, and it is still a little frightening.

I wonder if the bruising affects dogs with lighter skin pigmentation more? I know my bruise wasn't nearly that bad, but it seems like a lot of white dogs (I'm thinking of Wolf Dog Magic right now), seem to have worse bruising.
Hang in there, the recuperation won't last furever.

Magic's bruising was on the seroma , not on his incision...or if it was, it went away by the time he had his bandage off....but that bruising on the seroma just didn't go away, not ever....it got smaller, but it was only three months and it was fading a bit... I think that that is a good call about the white dogs...
