I thought I'd add some pictures of Denali because I know some people are going in tomorrow and on Monday for their amputations. She's up and moving around and seems to be doing really well. The vet tech said she was pulling her around the back yard area (so her leash manners haven't changed at all!).

Thanks for sharing! Photos like these can help others facing amputation prepare for picking up their pups after surgery. Though I don't see what might be considered disturbing about Denali's beautiful smile!
FYI: We've moved this topic here to the Treatment and Recovery forum since Denali is clearly well on her way to recovery.

Yes, disturbing...The Cone of Shame!
Can't scare us! I agree with jerry - I'm glad you posted the pics! I think she looks great!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
She looks great! She looks amazingly "with it"....was she? She doesn't look dopey, in other words...
Interesting where they have the fetanyl patch. Maggie's was on on remaining rear leg just below hock..what a pain that was to keep dry at the end of October with rain/snow stuff!!
Good luck Denali in your recovery! You're looking fantastic!
Tracy, Maggie's Mom
Maggie was amputated for soft tissue sarcoma 10-20-09
Maggie lost her battle with kidney disease on 8-24-13
I just commented on your other post and didn't see this - Denali is a beautiful girl with a beautiful smile! She looks like she's doing great! You must be so relieved....we're thinking of you and hope she continues to do well.
Kami (Mackenzie and Kobe's Mom)
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
She was pretty with it - more awake/alert/herself than when we had the bone biopsy done!! She still wasn't 100% herself, just seemed tired and a little less willing to listen (which means her listening rate of 5% went down to a 1% - as every Pyrenees owner knows - they don't really listen much, usually only if it benefits them).

Great idea to post pics for those facing surgery in the next couple of days. Her incision looks good. She's a beautiful big girl. Wishing her a speedy recovery.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

Looking Good! Nothing distrubing about photos of a successfull amputation. Rusty had bandages covering his suture line for five days so we were unable to see it until later (his photos are on my blog). We hope Denali comes home soon and you are ready for the next two weeks and a speedy recovery.
Chuck & Rusty
Rusty is a Labradoodle who was diagnosed with level 3 Fibrosarcoma on January 16th, 2010 and had his left hind leg amputated on January 25th, 2010 five days before his 18 month birthday. Please see Rusty's blog @rusty.tripawds.com. He is putting up one heck of a fight against this terrible disease.
pretty darn clean-looking incision and best of all, the happy smile on Denali's face!

This makes me laugh EVERY time! Denali is beautiful as is her incision. ; )
Our angel "Etta" amputation on 4-15-10 lost her front limb. initially dx'd with neurofibrosarcoma. However, after surgery they discovered histiocytic sarcoma a very aggressive cancer. After two full rounds of chemo our special angel lost her battle on 6-21-10. the sweetest and most gentle soul. Our lives are forever blessed for having known her...
Denali looks wonderful, I hope for a speedy recovery for you.

Tasha lost her battle and became my Angel on May 4 2011. Forever in my heart….
Wow! She looks GREAT! Oh my gosh it's so great to see her looking hoppy. Good luck today, let us know if you need anything OK?

Wow, she looks great! Glad to see her up and around so well. Please don't call me a pawty pooper, but one thing (which you probably know already from reading other topics) is that sometimes they seems to be doing really great and then there's a period of difficulty after they're home a day or two. I only mention it because it happened to Sadie, and I wasn't expecting it because she did so great her 1st day home. We're keeping our fingers and paws crossed that it absolutely doesn't happen to your sweet Denali.
Hugs and sloppy Sadie kisses,
Lisa & Sadie
Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end. On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.

Denali is home - she's not getting around as well as yesterday. She has some bruising on her tummy. I've had to help her with a sling I made out of a walmart canvas shopping bag. I want her to rest but she's too interested to try to see what Loki is doing.
