Just an update - Ajax had his last vinblastine treatment today for the MCT - so far so good, no signs of it coming back at this point - as well as his regular follow up lung xray from the first cancer (chondrosarcoma) - also looks good.
He very much enjoys his time at the Animal Medical Center where he has many human and canine admirers.
We sent his vets a photo labeld "Ajax vs. Sprinkler - 26 days after amputation" and they are using it in their interactive marketing materials (electronic poster thing and also in print). It says "Ajax lost his leg due to cancer, but the doctors at Animal Medical Center made him better and now he plays and runs in the sprinkler". You could all see this if I was not technically inept. I have a pdf, maybe I will try to mail it to admin.
Alas, Ajax receives neither royalties nor a discount on his treatment, despite his fame.
We are feeling good and glad we took a happy tripawd photo that others will see. Ajax is still on the prednisone; he will take 2 weeks off to flush the vinblastine out and then start 3 mos. of Palladia.
It's spring in NYC and we will go out for a burger tonight if the restaurants have put the sidewalk chairs out ...
Sheesh, I completely left out 1/2 the reason for the post - the marketing materials, which involve some kind of interactive board where folks match the photo with the description of treatment, will got to the Westminster Dog Show where AMC has a booth. Since Ajax has "disqualifying" brindle markings, we are secretly pleased to be sneaking into Westminster ...
Cute cute Ajax!
Bummer about the no royalties/discounts though!
Jackie, Angel Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
wow, another tripawd celebrity!!! we really need a 'walk of fame'.
charon & spirit gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Way to sneak into Westminster and steal the show, Ajax! I agree with Jackie; you should certainly get a discount from now on-- goodness knows the AMC already have a considerable amount of your pawrents savings!
Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011
Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011. Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs. If love alone could have saved you…
Way to go Ajax! Don't forget the little people and dogs on your way up the fame ladder!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Oh love it Ajax! You pass the test for coolness!

Ajax wants to assure cometdog that he does not know any "little" people and dogs and he will never forget all the folks who helped his mom through his first battle to become a tripawd and who are helping him fight the new MCT which was taken out in Oct and seems to be staying gone ...
He will send a royal wave from Westminster (like a Harry Potter painting, he will pop out from the poster to wave) so be watching for him!
