Ps. 2 questions:
1) anyone else's pup lose their hearing along with the leg? I don't want to pull too much on Ajax, and you hate to speak harshly to your newly 3-legged buddy, but Ajax has clearly recognized this and has decided to ignore all non-essential -- as he deems them -- voice commands. Hence, lady losing her cheese plate last Friday.
I could never be entirely sure- Maggie had chronic ear infections when she was younger and had lost some hearing, and she was an obstinate pug (actually often obstinate is used as a definition for pugs). But I swear when I would call her I could see her deciding if it was worth her time to respond .

I'm laughing at your comment about the LIE – you got me there – I can picture it now. Yikes!!
Selective hearing….seems to be a very common trait and in my experience with Mackenzie it only gets worse. I can call her name 10 times in a row and she'll just stand there looking at me as if I had 2 heads. You might notice some other behaviorial changes going on too…like Mackenzie now barks at everything. Before her amputation she hardly ever barked. I guess they're trying to overcompensate for their leg. But I don't mind her loud fierce barking now – makes me feel a little more protected even if she is a golden.

My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
Hmmm ...protection has not previously been Ajax's strong suit, as he will basically love anyoen with food. Maybe this will be a bonus ...
On the "news" side: Ajax is now laying on his right (amputated leg) side, hooray!!!!!!! He has been lying on the left side only for 3 weeks - so nice to seem him relaxing on the other side ....
