Glad the stitch removal went well! I used the Purrkins onesie for a while even after stitches came out. (link below) Kitty may also leave the site alone now that the itchy stitches are gone! (Let's hope).

Great job on being and advoCAT (sorry I couldn't resist) regarding medications. I did the same with Yum Yum after her amputation a few months ago, and she did great after tapering off. Thankfully no recurrence of any phantom pain since.
Lots of love and scritches to your kitty! - Jessica & Yum Yum
WHEW! Well overall this is a terrific update! I'm so glad the sisters are being nice and well who can blame them for thinking she's some kind of alien when she wears the cone, right? I know it sucks for everyone but it is for the best. That incision gets soooo itchy! Just a few more days.
And I'm really happy your vet is good with keeping her on the Gabapentin for now. Congratulations on being a great ADVOCAT! It takes some doing but you did it!
Paws crossed for smooth sailing from here, keep us posted.

Ok, so nice warm or even tepid damp facecloths over the incision a couple times a day should help the scab loosen and her itchiness. Get a facecloth or small hand towel and wet it well. Wring it tight and apply it like a compress.. don't rub. The skin is getting tight and itchy while healing, that's all. I had a very intense time with Huck when staples came out and I thought for sure he would do harm but he did not. Some do, some dont, just try to keep her comfy. That scab wont be on too long!
As far as the Gabapentin is concerned (again, I am not a vet) I would strongly discourage suddenly stopping it. I would taper off over a few days and do it gently. Huck was probably on for another week after suture removal and he did well being weaned off. They say less about cats, but with dogs they always wean. Just a thought.
Sounds like a win win overall, yay for no sutures!!

YAAAAAY!! Stitches gone, gone, gine!!!
So glad stitches are out AND that the reintroduction went well.
Onward and ipward!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Well I spoke too soon on the sisters being good to her. Last night there was some swatting with each other with one of the cats, no nails came out but a lot of hissing. This morning I had to yell at her again for the same thing. It was right after I gave her the Gabapentin that she was nasty to her. I know it will take time to reintroduce them to each other after 12 days. Just frustrating!
Yeah, patience is all that's needed right now. You've already been through the hardest part and mastered it like a Champ!
Between the nasty tasting med and feeling a bit vulnerable, a little swat here and there doesn't surprise me at all. Maybe try and give her the dose away from the cats and give her a treat right after the dose .
You've got this!!!!

Great input Jackie!
I'm sorry they had a couple of spats. You are on top of the situation though, good job! Hopefully that will not be an issue for much longer. Remember to stay pawsitive and project the emotions you want her to project. Our animals mirror our emotions after all!

Hey - this is late, even for me, but I wanted to say that I'm glad to have offered some insight, re: the cat claws topic. I wouldn't have known that long claws could be a thing for tripawd dogs, but it makes sense!

Cats with extra toes are more prone to it.
Yes! The only time I have seen this was with our polydactyl. She was a rare four-paw poly. 😊
@nixonmathis18 - would love to know how your kitty is doing!
