So far the meds have not done a whole lot..but Max is getting up more and moving around a little (like when that turkey was out! ) but its still early and he is only on day 4. The oncologist said dogs usually respond in 8-10 days so Im not too concerned and like I said, we do see more activity from him. He has played with a couple of toys for about a minute and wanted me to roll his tennis ball on the deck for him this morning. 3 times and he was pooped. Came back in and is curled up on his bed. As far as the amputation....if all ofthis other stuff werent going on he would be doing awesome. He has no problem at all with getting around or his balance. I do think I am going to buy him a stand for his food bowls though. He seems to struggle a little when eating from the floor. I also am going to have to start feeding him a little at a time. Now that he has an appetite again, he eats so fast that he ends up throwing it up. Tonight we will begin a "phased approach" to the process! LOL! Hope everyone had a great new year and Max and I send Labby hugs to you all!

HI Paula,
Hang in there. Take each step, little or big, as a step towards progress.
I
would recommend the raised stand for the feeding. We used raised
feeders with our dogs prior to the sugery so we already had them.
I do think it is easier for Wrigley to eat at that level than try to
balance eating off the ground. She actually ate at her feeder for the
first time since the surgery yesterday. ( yippee).
Take care and keep us posted.

We second the raised feeder bowls, Tripawds need all the help they can get when it comes to stooping down toward the ground. Raising food up makes a huge difference.
When he struggles to get up off the floor, is he on carpeted or un-carpeted surface? If un-carpeted, you may want to make sure he's on carpet more often.
Sounds like Max is making good, gradual progress though, we're glad to hear that. How is he doing today?

Hi everyone! We are happy to report that Max is coming back to normal. Sat and Sun we took him out on the golf course (also his backyard in the winter) and threw his coveted tennis ball and let him run. The Labby smile was back and he had a spring in his step. He was tired afterwards, but enjoyed it thoroughly! The meds are working!!!!!! We go back up to Madison on Thur for blood work and hopefully the first round of chemo. Im hoping all the good that these meds have brought arent wiped out by the chemo...but staying pawsitive! So happy to have my baby even 1/2 back!!
