Dave is just too precious in his avatar pic...no wonder you fell in love with him!! He indeed has had a rough time in his life for a while but something brought you both together for a reason. I'm so glad that you didn't let Dave's health issues deter you from giving him an awesome home. Once you get through the recovery period you'll see there's nothing "disabled" or "special needs" with Dave. Society in general doesn't understand pet amputation and that dogs and cats can continue to live wonderful lives as Tripawds so these special fur kids get passed over for adoption.
Anyway, welcome and I look forward to following Dave and hearing about all the adventures you'll both have!

May you finally be healthy and running free at the Rainbow Bridge. Until we meet again my sweet boy!

Murphy has come so far! He had histiocytic sarcoma, which is highly aggressive and is usually found in organs, like the spleen, but his was in his right front leg, just above the elbow. He was misdiagnosed for a little while (that happens quite often, unfortunately) and was limping from October until February when we found out that it might be cancer. Then we did a biopsy, waited for results, which were inconclusive, then more x-rays, so it wasn't until April when he had his surgery - over 5 months since he had first started limping! After they finally got the diagnosis, we were told that if we were lucky, we might get 12-18 months with him - as of right now, it's been over 27 months! So far his lungs remain clear and he can still chase squirrels, dig for mice and jump on the furniture. He is a very happy boy
So if Murphy can pull through after all of that, and I know a lot of other fur-babies on here have pulled through even more, then sweet Dave can pull through too!

Oh Dave, so sad to hear all you are going through! I'm so happy you now have a loving home! Are you using a sling, or harness to assist Dave? My Dobe, Nitro, had a rough start to recovery after his front amp from osteosarcoma. We eventually found a vet that does chiropractic adjustments and that has made a world of difference for him! Good luck!

Nitro 11 1/2 yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms. Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"
