Hi,
I first posted about 4 weeks ago. Dusty had a nerve sheath tumor. Amputation and we were supposed to be good. He is great.....so happy adapting well. This type of cancer does not typically metastize, Dusty is rare, not typical. They found it in his lymph node under the leg biopsied post-op.)
Low dose chemo is so expensive, Chlorambucil (Leukeran) ....any resources to order from a reputable lower price pharmacy?
Glad to hear things are going well.
Always remember that chemotherapy is optional, you don't have to do it. If it's going to stress you out financially, then you have to ask yourself if affecting your pack's quality of life that way is worth the cost. Remember, it's all about quality not quantity.
if you still want to look into prices we found Roadrunner Pharmacy was very inexpensive for compounding drugs. These articles from the Tripawds Nutrition Blog can help you find a reputable pharmacy:

Thanks for all of the info!
Dusty is doing so well, happy and taking all of this in stride. He wears cool little boy muscle shirts until his fur grows back (wants to scratch) and is proud of his new harness. He had his pet sitter come in for two weeks at lunch to sit outside with him to listen to the birds and sniff Spring, He has no pain and knows how to hop, run, and climb stairs. He loves that he gets more pets and more treats (carrots, can't have a fat tri-pawd).
He is keeping our "pack' together.
So for now we do chemo....every day is a blessing and as long as he is so happy and loving. If that changes, we have accepted that we may change our treatment plan.
He is amazing everyone he meets lately and they fall in love with him.
Our town has a "Bark-in-the-park" event coming up and I'm thinking of doing a tri-pawds booth to share info on dog cancer, coping..etc??
Thank you for all of the information and support here. It's been a tough road and I don't anticipate it getting much better than now, but it's the path we are on.
Thanks,
Lisa & Dusty
