It has been a month since Jasper lost his leg. He was still acting uncomfortable after several days of his new regimine of rymadil. It turns out I was under dosing. The galliprant was one a day and this is twice a day. The correct dosage makes a big difference Jasper is going on his first post op groom on saturday. They have assured me that they have done tripawds with no problem, but I worry about him being snappy. He does seem better with the correct medicine though, so here's hoping. Is there a community buy/sell for this group?
So glad to hear the more frequent dose adjustment of Rimadyl is helping your sweet Jasper.
We have a forum called "Tripawds Angel Exchange " items are donated there (no charge allowed, other than shipping reimbursement).
Just a suggestion in the grooming session. And keep in mind, that this is from someone whose never had a dog groomed, so take it for whatever it's worth!! I'm guessing it's like most places that have a window where you can watch?? As you know it's hard for a tripawd to "stand still". Plus, Jasper may want ot lay down a lot if he is still building strength. Point being, I would want to be there watching the whole time.
Can't wait to see pictures of Jasper after the "makeover"!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Super glad to hear the new dosing is working correctly. Just be sure to watch him for any signs of GI upset (runny stool is the #1 sign of NSAIDs adversely affecting a pup). Hopefully he won't be snippy at the groomer but I do agree with Sally, I would want to be there at least for the first time.

We took Jasper on a road trip to Utah, via Yellowstone and Grand Tetons. He did so great! We used the stroller at Old Faithful but other than that he mostly walked. He is exhausted (we all are) but he seems unfazed by the whole situation. I have been giving him the anti-inflammatory but I didn't give him any pain meds at all.
SPECTACULAR UPDATE!!! What s grear vacay for Jasper!! The visual of him in his Chariot at Old Faithful has me grinning😀 Any pictures??
Thanks for letting us know how well things are going. Made my day!

What a road trip! And a groomer too? He's been on a post-op whirlwind, lucky dawg.
Oh gosh we would love to see the photos! Here are instructions on adding images to Forum posts. Basically you need to:
- Upload photos to a photo sharing website like imgur.com, or your own Tripawds blog
- Copy the Image URL
- Return here to paste the Image URL into your blog post
That should do the trick but if not let me know, I'm happy to help. Can't wait to see them!

Yay for Jasper!
And what a great road trip... I have family up in Montana and used to visit Yellowstone every year, although I usually went to the less crowded parts of the park.
And hey- be sure to ask the groomer for the Tripawd discount next time since there are only 3 feet to work on .
I don't actually expect a discount but the look on their faces when I ask is usually pretty funny!
Can't wait to see pictures.
