Minnie is a three year old Manchester Terrier blend who was found as a stray. She was pulled from a County shelter and brought to SICSA Pet Adoption Center in Kettering, Ohio. Minnie started limping while she was at SICSA and it was found she had a broken bone in her leg. After surgery, her leg became infected and unfortunately one thing led to another and Minnie had to have her back leg amputated. Prior to her surgery Minnie was a fabulous, sweet, and fun little dog. She kind of was a girl with attitude, in that she liked who she liked and she hated who she hated. She was very clear with people if you were part of the cool club.
Currently Minnie is living in a foster home and unable to be shown for adoption at the Adoption Center due to her behavior. She is very sweet, loving, cuddly, and gets along great with other animals. She still likes who she like and let's you know if you are part of the cool club. After her amputation she has developed an issue with being picked up and being put back down. You just don't do it. She curls up in your lap and lays with you, but she needs to be able to get up and down on her own terms.
We are obviously looking for a home for Minnie, a happily ever after for her after all she has been through. We are also looking into the option of transfering Minnie to another rescue who works specifically with handicapped dogs, who may be able to help Minnie find a home faster than what our resources allow here.
If you are interested in learning more about Minnie, please feel free to call Alicia at 937-294-6505 x14 or e-mail her at asanders@sicsa.org. Thank you so much for reading about sweet Minnie!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
