I know this maybe a long shot, but I wanted to try.

There is a 2 year old, owner surrender, 40lb. male, lab mix with a back leg amputation at the Harnett County Animal Shelter in Lillington, NC. He was held over from yesterday. He literally has until 3:30 tomorrow to get out. I'm unsure as to why his leg was amputated.

The shelter does euthanize.  He has money raised towards his rescue.

If you or you know of anyone that can help please contact Regina rstone@harnett.org or leave a message at 910-814-2952. Here is the link to the shelter http://www.harnett.org/ac

http://www.harn.....p?aid=7692

If you have FB you can view him on Friends of the Harnett County Animal Shelter page

There are three other dogs in addition to him that must be out by Thursday afternoon.

I appreciate any help we can get for this baby.  Fingers crossed to save them all 🙂

Have a nice day,

Danell

I would try contacting Pets With Disabilities. They take dogs from shelters and may be able to take him, especially if he has funding.

I wonder if there is any way to get him to Chicago?  And I wonder if Gator would like him?  Breaking my heart that I can't just go pick him up.

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.   Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Wherever they are, they are together.

Oh gosh Christine!!! ,Breaking my heart too. To think he was given up and is in there not knowing what in the world is going on....just sucks!

YES! WE CAN FIGURE OUT A WAY TO GET HIM TO CHICAGO!!!!! I can't thinknof the names of a couple of volunteer drivers who do just that...transport dogs from state to state!

I can DEFINITELY participate to some degree! Frankie came from North Carolina, Happy Hannah came from North Carolina, Merry Myrtle came from North Carolina.....somehow I'm converting that into a good omen!!

Can you go on and call and see what info you can get and see if you can ddetermine if he woukd be a good pal for Gator??

Frankie came from "Ruff Love" shelter there and maybe they woukd be willing to pull him until we can get transition lined up.

Just throwing stuff out there so we can stop the clock ticking on that sweet boy...and maybe the others too. This just sickens me...this whole scenario that happens everyday to innocent dogs.

Let me know how I can help if you are interested. First step is to get them to put killing him on hold if you think he and Gator will get along. We'll figure out transportation PROMISE!!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

I'm at work until 4:00 today. If someone can call the shelter and see how he is with dogs, that may give us an idea of where to go next.

I did add thst this was just brought to iur attention and I'm a member of Tripawds.com. and, with a bit more time, we may be able to find aout GREAT home for this pup with people who understand the needs of a tripawd

If anyone else could call with the same message it may be helpful. We MUST buy some time for this POOCH!

Tha ks so much Danell!!!!!

I don't have time to make phone calls today, but I did send an e:Mail message and ask if there was any way that a monetary contribution could buy him some more time, whether for me or someone else.   I don't FB, so couldn't really use that forum.

I just got off the phone with Regina and told her I would relay the info to everypawdy here. No need to call her back right now unless it's because you're going to pull him yourself. I was amazed she found the time to call back (Sally, I told her no need to all you, I'd share the news).

Here's the scoop on this dog.

Pooch is NOT on a PTS list for tomorrow. When I asked her to confirm she said "No that is not true at all. I will hold him as long as I have space" says Regina. So yay, we have a bit more time.

He was brought in with another dog, Mocha. They were an owner surrender on 4/10. Owner said "We have too many animals." His pal Mocha was adopted yesterday.

He is well-mannered and seems to get along with others. "He's just as sweet as can be" says Regina.

So, as of now, he is safe but of course the shelter would love to see him get into foster care. That's where we can focus our efforts now OK? Let's network with as many area rescues who can help make this happen.

YAAAAAAAAAY!!!!! SOOOO glad you connected Rene and worked your magic!! 🙂 🙂

The number I called was the SHELTERr number that I got the recording....And rather than hearing a "tone/beep" when it told me to start my message, I waited...heard a "ringing" and started message then.....anyway...TMI!!!

THRILLED THAT WE HAVE SOME TIME!!!

Okaaaay....this just may be a sign from Otis and Tess they've picked out someone for a certain dog named GATOR!!!

And, of course, we don't know the situation of the owner....but to turn in TWO dog pals to a Kill shelter.....grrrrrr!

Thank you so much! I saw on the FB volunteer page that they were in contact with Tripawds. That made me happy. I will keep everyone updated if I hear anything from the volunteer group.

I hope we can get a rescue group lined up soon!

Such a sweet face! and huge goofy smile!

How in dog's name to you pick two of your "too many animals" and take them to a shelter, kill or not? it makes my heart hurt thinking about it.

I came back this afternoon to check in and make sure he's okay (for the moment).

I'd be happy to make a monetary donation to get this smiling boy to Chicago! clap

I have reached out to the lab rescue that brought Gator up from Tennessee to see if they have connections or can help in any way in getting him to Chicago.
