Hello,
After searching for months through Petfinder and Craigslist and the local shelters, I found a dog that just won't leave my mind. He's a Mastiff who lost his front leg from some kind of 'injury'...but I can't get any more info on him because my phone calls don't get returned, nor do my emails. I finally reached someone today, who was very unhelpful, screaming, "There's a dog loose! Hold on!" Then she came back out of breath and said "I don't even have that dog, he's at BlaBlah OH MY GOD another one is loose! Here's the number .... " And she hung up. Nobody answered at the other number.
This has been happening for about ten days. Meanwhile, what's happening to this guy? http://www.petf.....l/22864415
I am willing to drive the 5 hours to meet him but I want to make sure he is available before I go.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
don't know what to suggest other than email or continuing with phone calls. unfortunately, many shelters and rescue groups are so VERY understaffed, and they are mostly volunteers, which makes it difficult to talk to someone about actually rescuing. do they have a homepage or website that lists officers or such?? don't know where this is in georgia, we are in knoxville tn, where are you at?? hope you can track him down, as he really looks like a sweetheart, who could use a break!!!

You might want to see if you can contact a different rescue group (not shelter) in the area to see if they will go to the shelter to confirm presence before you make the trip. Most legitimate rescues have the best interest of animals in mind and want to see them adopted, whether it is from their facility or another so sometimes they will help out in a situation like this. Good luck!
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...
