Trey the tripawd needs a home more than any dog I have ever seen. There's a video on his rescue site and his adorable mug is on a post on Susie's Senior Dogs. Who do we know who might have room for an elderly yellow lab??

(near) CHARLESTON, SC: Trey is a 14 year old, three-legged boy who has been through so many unfortunate events. Trey was originally found with an injured leg being eaten by rats, he has been attacked by another dog, he has been living at a shelter for 11 years, and now has been displaced by Hurricane Matthew. And the bittersweet part of it all? Despite his tragic life, he is loving, loving boy. PLEASE SHARE!

H.F. HELP, Inc Animal Rescue wrote, "Trey was found under an abandoned mobile home in a rural area and could not move due to a badly injured leg. His leg was literally being eaten by rats when he was found. Trey’s leg had to be amputated immediately, and there was still doubt if he would make it but, thankfully, he did. Trey has been with H. F. Help since then. (The woman who ran this rescue, until she passed away and we recently took over, never wanted the dogs to go anywhere, sadly.)

Trey is now 14 years old, and mainly just loves to lay outside soaking up the sun. In all the time I have been working here, Trey never wanted to be touched, he had one little corner in the yard where he did his business and then would go straight back to his kennel with his head hanging low. Well as rough as this hurricane has been to the rescue, it has been a blessing for some of these pups were forced out of their comfort zone [moved to different location] and they are starting to come out of their shell. It took hours for him to calm down and me talking to him for him to come over and sit in my lap and sleep. He was even tense as he first dozed off. But I felt the moment he finally relaxed and it made me cry because I knew in that moment he trusted me. He looked up and licked me as if to say 'please don't go.' As far as I know Trey has never shown any affection to anyone. I hope to make more progress with him.

Trey is good with cats and he is good with dogs. He is a little skittish with some dogs, but he is *not* aggressive, just skittish and cautious.

We have a vet tech that is going to build a wheelchair for Trey; it was delayed because of the storm. So, hopefully, he will be moving around a lot better soon!

We have an adoption application, we do home visits, vet references and meet and greet, and we will transport to the nearby states for the perfect home for Trey. He is such a sweetheart and deserves a home of his own to live out his life."

To adopt Trey, please contact Dee of H.F. Help Animal Rescue by emailing d0131b@gmail.com or calling 843.343.1202.

Wow. What a story. No dog should ever have to go through what he has, poor guy. We hope with all we've got that he find that perfect home. Thanks for sharing.
