“Mira”
Beautiful & sweet natured Tripawd for adoption.
Approx. 8 yrs old, amputated as a very young dog/shoulder joint and small part of leg remain
Siberian Husky
Spayed Female (Red, bi-eyed)
Front leg lost due to umbilical cord being wrapped around it.
Currently at the shelter with her father (Romeo) due to their owner’s death. Adoption together would be wonderful. (there at the shelter 51 days as of 10/29/23)
Photos and video clips available. AMRNC is assisting the shelter with the outreach. If you'd like to see photos, please email: plumetales@gmail.com

Thank you so much for your kindess in sharing, SK. What a heartbreaking thing to happen to these well-loved pups!
I’ve found some pics of both pups and their Petfinder profiles are linked below with all their details. It goes without saying that if you can give Mira (and possibly Romeo too) a loving home, please do! And if not, could you share them with someone who might be able to?
Here is the beloved and beautiful Mira:
And her bright-eyed dad, Romeo:
And finally, these two well-loved and bonded pups together!
To visit the Montgomery County Animal Shelter for inquiries about adoptions, the shelter is open to the public 11am - 3pm Tuesday - Saturday.

To add further perspective and urgency to this request, I did notice this quote on the Montgomery County Animal Services Petfinder page:
Montgomery County Animal Control is located in rural part of central North Carolina. Until late November 2012, this shelter was known to have the highest euthanasia rate in the entire state. With volunteer and public help, the adoption rate has been increasing, and donations of food and supplies have allowed the animals to be kept for longer periods of time to allow for adoption and rescue. The shelter still desperately needs the help of the public in order to keep from having to put any of the animals to sleep. Please consider saving the life of a shelter animal today!
Undoubtedly, SK (the original poster in this thread) is one of those community folks behind helping to get pups (and cats!) like Mira & Romeo the homes and lives they so much deserve! Bravo, SK.
It may be that time is running short for these two - please consider whether you or someone you know can take in these beloved dogs who have lost their hooman. 😥

Breaks my heart for these two. To lose human who love them, to lose their home and then put into the chaos of a shelter that is quick to euthanize. I’ve adopted several bonded pairs and I know how important it is for them to be with each other. It helps make the transition out of the shelter to a new home and new environment so much easier for them. I doubt that the Montgomery animal control would be interested in putting forth some effort to contact some no kill shelters. there is one in North Carolina called Ruff Love (Luv), there are two in Virginia called hooligans Rest and Carig for Creatures…..That I can think of

Howling Great News!
Mira & Romeo have been adopted TOGETHER!
I'm just now seeing all the replies of support and want to say thank you! Also, I should have been clearer that these puppers were not in any immediate danger at the shelter. They have new staff and management and while very rural, they are amazingly caring and patient in helping the animals find good homes.
Thanks again to this great forum!
Soooooo happy to read this! Togo to anew home together is the best outcome for these to beauts
Thanks for the update Natalie❤️Hearing good news like this gives us so much hope for shelter dogs.
