Just got the word that this little gal needs a home.
Do you know of anyone who is looking to adopt a dog? Nice rescued dog available for adoption. Located in Santa Rosa, CA. Please contact Carol or Katie by PMing us here for more information."Suzie" is looking for her forever home. She was rescued from an owner who allowed her to run loose on a highway, where she was hit by a car. Her right hind leg had to be amputated. She has 3 legs. Suzie has been in foster care for 3 months and is fully healed and she is ready for her forever home.
Suzie is such a wonderful, loving dog that everyone who meets her is enchanted by her brown button eyes and friendly disposition.
- Approx. 5 years old
- White poodle type
- Fabulous temperament, very gentle and loving --- an easy dog.
- Loves to sit on your lap and cuddle
- A real ham who does silly things like move her bed around, or carry her leash in her mouth. Suzie makes you laugh.
- House trained
- Likes other dogs and cats. Suzie is currently living in a foster home with 2 other dogs and 4 cats.
- Loves children and would be good with children age 6+ (possibly younger, but we have not had her with younger kids). Suzie is currently living in a foster home with children ages 9-17.
- Mellow girl who would make a great companion for senior, retiree, or someone who wants to take her to work.
-Very smart, knows "sit" "down" "stay" "wait" and "leave it." Suzie would enjoy further training!
-Current on everything: spayed, vaccinated, recent full dental work, microchipped and licensed in Sonoma County
-Seems to do well being left alone.
Suzie needs a home with a good fenced yard. She is fearful of vehicles and does not want to go on walks near streets where cars are moving (when a car comes she sits and refuses to walk) due to fear from her road accident. Her new person will need to work with her to help her overcome this fear. Suzie has a history of injuring a duck and would not be appropriate in a home with loose poultry. A home without tons of stairs would be best for her.
Suzie is a great dog who will steal your heart in about 30 seconds. Adoption fee of $85. To approved home with references. Please find out how contact Carol or Katie by PMing us here.

i wish I could, I really wish I could. But with this knee just getting worse and worse and Whiskey at only 7 months and we are constantly training to be ready for when I have surgery...I read this and almost thought, I can do it I can do it...but I will certainly keep my eye out...how can it be in my town and I can't take her...I am so so sorry. Don't let me change my mind....
Oh my gosh, what a sweetie! And here I sit with Athena, Ranger and you guessed it....NO LOOSE POULTRY! However, as tempting as it is, although Ranger is great with smaller dogs, I'm not so sure about Athena (she kinda has a bunny fettish.) Also, our neighbors sometimes give us fresh eggs (which leads me to believe that they might have loose poultry.) I sure hope she finds a great home. Sounds like she deserves it!
Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end. On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.

How much does she weigh?
We are temporarily living with my in-laws in the East Bay in CA (we just relocated to CA). We have Dixie with us, of course, and they've fallen in love with her. My mother-in-law Dawn is fighting cancer right now and Dixie has become an inspiration to the whole family. I know Dawn will miss having a canine companion when we move out.
I'm definitely going to share this post with her. Suzie sounds like a perfect match! My in-laws are low-key people, work for themselves, have a fenced yard and live on a small street with only 4 houses (the only car I ever see move is my own!). There are chickens in the yard behind us, but there's a tall, secure wood fence separating the yards. I'm sure Dixie would hurt a chicken too if she could get her mouth on one…
Anyway, I'll share this. I make no promises. I'm just excited because I think this dog sounds like such a good match! We'll see… never know!
Hey Dixiedog, welcome to CA! It's great to hear from you! Where in CA are you?
I'm going to PM you with the contact info for her foster pawrents. It would be GREAT if this turned into a match! Keep us posted oK?

I also am sending this on.....I was so relieved I actually made it through the night without adopting her......I feel so awful for not doing it, but have passed it on to equally soft headed er, I mean HEARTED animal lovers.....
Dixiedog I cannot tell you how I felt when I logged on and saw your post....it will relieve my mind so much...I also thought of an older lady who would give her right arm to have a dog again...she lives for when I take Whiskey to visit which isn't as often as I should, but her health and PHYSICAL disabilities would make it difficult....so I am praying that the sweetie makes it onto Santa's sleigh and to her furever home...
