Hey folks can you please help us get this guy into a forever home or at least foster care? Here is what Tripawd Ajax in New York City sent us today:
There is a lovely 3 legged (5-7 yr old dog maybe ridgeback/hound) who lives in the building next to me. His owner is dying and the woman watching him is going for surgery on Sept 13th and will put him in a shelter if nobody wants the dog before then. Do you know a special needs rescue group or even if something like this exists?
I feel terrible and cannot let this dog go to a shelter L
I have attached a photo (not great…..sorry)
Here is Sonny. If you can help please PM us here and we will pass along contact information. Thank you for helping to spread the word.

This breaks my heart.....oh, that's right, it is August, why should we expect anything different?
Clearly this pup was very dear to her owner and cared for and loved as only tripawds can be. It ALWAYS saddens me when there are no family members or beloved friends of this poor woman to help out. I hope so eone is there for her.
You are a dear soul for trying to help. Have you checked on lone for Ridgeback Rescue Groups? Don't k ow if there is such a thing exists.
Hope Erica sees this.....maybe she knows of a way to help from New York.
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Mica, are you serious? There's a way for us to stretch the drive from NYC up to you for this darling guy. Erica could check him out. I'll come in to the city to get him and maybe start the drive up north to meet you....? He's SO cute. I'd love him, but Jackson will only ever be a 1-dog-family kinda guy. I love giving all my love to J, but I know I've got more love to give. I'd be happy to help make this pup part of your family, Mica!

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12. Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ! No side effects. We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments. He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors! Our love. Our funny little guy!
Well the reasons why I can't are not only because I don't have a valid passport (it's being processed right now but won't be ready in time) but also because of Roxy's current situation and the fact that we're getting a new boy tomorrow (new dog has been tested with Roxy to make sure he doesn't add any stress to her life).
I did contact a local rescue who specializes in special needs and seniors, to see if they do cross-border rescues, but have not heard back. I'm sure they get tons of emails a day.
Congratulations on the new addition Mica!

More specifics from Ajax's mom about Sonny:
Basically, he is owned by an older gentleman who is headed into hospice. The gentleman is perhaps not himself, and has directed the dog be put down because he has no one to take the dog. A neighbor with multiple pets has taken the dog, but she herself is older and is about to have a major surgery, so will put him in a shelter (in NYC - they try, but they are not the best shelters; they have little space and are overcrowded) unless someone can take him.
The picture is from a dog bday party in Central Park that Sonny attended with my friend Kim and her dog. So it is a kind of urgent situation if we are trying to keep Sonny - who is only 5-6 years old - out of a shelter.
And better photos! Please share with everyone you know. Thanks!

Silly Admin, he doesn't know the scoop like I do! Yes, he is definitely available.
Katg, please either register as a Tripawds member so you can private message Ajax's human for details, or contact us via email at jerry-at-tripawds-dot-com and I will forward your details to the good people who have Sonny. He's presently with some amazing friends who are still in search of a home for him.
Thanks for your interest!
