Hi all! There's a handsome pit bull mix waiting for a home at Dane County Humane Society in Madison, WI. So close to where I live and yet so impossible for me to take him on at this time - alas. Doing what I can to get the word out though! The website works a little funny so that I can't share a direct link to his picture/description specifically. But this will take you to the search page and if you search under "Dog" for Species, he'll be near the top - a white pit bull dubbed "Mr. Wonderful": http://www.give.....imalsearch
It looks like the pics of him were taken pre-amputation, because his description indicates that one of his front legs was amputated due to injury. There is another white pittie on the site just underneath him (currently) who really does have four legs - maybe you can negotiate a two for one deal!
Gerry has been a tripawd since 12/16/2009.
He was a shelter dog with a mysterious past and an irrepairable knee injury.

You are SUCH a sweetie for sponsoring him!
Here's Mr. Wonderful's info
ID #20962754
"Mr. Wonderful is an adult male Pit Bull Terrier looking for his new forever home. This handsome guy already knows how to sit and he's eager to learn more! He'll do best in a home with children over the age of 10. Because of an injury, Mr. Wonderful needed surgery to remove one of his front legs. But even with just three legs, Mr. Wonderful is... you guessed it... WONDERFUL! Weight 60 pounds"

I know it's not rational, but hard not to feel responsible for ALL three legged dogs once you've had one, isn't it? And I've been watching a lot of Pit Bulls and Parolees re-runs in the last couple months - that didn't help! Made it a double-whammy. Particularly the episode with Rocket, the white, front-leg amputee pittie that trained to become a therapy dog! I even took the class with the very same instructor that they had on the show too!

Totally! And it's hard to go back to four-leggers too...they're just so odd looking!
Hey you've seen that episode with the Tripawd? The producers came here a while back looking for a Tripawd. We heard that they found one but we never knew if the episode had actually aired. I'm glad you got to see it, I'd love to some day.
You had the same instructor? What are the chances? Wow!

I think she does a lot of traveling to conduct those seminars.
This is Mr. Wonderful's first weekend of being adoptable (more folks come in looking on weekends, of course). Paws crossed!!!

I'm planning on mailing DCHS one of Gerry's extra Tripawds Rule! bandanas for Mr. Wonderful. They might find it superfluous though... but he'd look good in blue, don't ya think? I've got blue or yellow. Blue doesn't really suit Ger, but he has two yellow ones, so either way. : )

Poor Mr. Wonderful, there's so much wonderful competition at the Dane County Humane Society right now...

I will give this a bump, as Sampson the Wonderdog is a DCHS rescue from way back in the day (he and Maxxie, also a DCHS alum, were DCHS 2002 Calendar cover models, in fact ).
"Let us think the unthinkable, let us do the undoable, let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all."
-Douglas Adams, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency
"May I recommend serenity to you? A life that is burdened with expectations is a heavy life. Its fruit is sorrow and disappointment. Learn to be one with the joy of the moment."
-Douglas Adams, The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul
Awww, thanks for the bumps! My Yoda was Mr. November back in...2007 maybe for the DCHS calendar. Yoda was from there and I'll never forget, when I'd had Gerry about a year, I met their development director at a DCHS "Santa Paws" event (get pictures of pets with Santa). She's the one who takes the dogs on the local news shows and stuff (among many other things, but that's how I recognized her), and she remembered Yoda and even remembered him enough to comment on how similar Yoda and Gerry are in personality/temperament. I was really touched by that, because she handles so many dogs in her job, and would have been about 4 years since she last saw Yoda - in person... she had seen his calendar contest submissions since, of course.
In conclusion... DCHS is WONDERFUL, so why not go meet Mr. Wonderful, if anyone reading this can?

Awwwwww! Too much cute! He's so adept with that front paw already - and comfortable playing on a slippery floor. What a guy!
I didn't see that video on their website - is it on their facebook page or something? I always forget to look at facebook.
