Sent to me by a shelter worker:
Indy came to the shelter a few months back with a shattered left rear leg and lots of bullet fragments in his bone. The vet has amputated the leg, he's been to foster care while his staples were in, and now is back at the shelter looking for his home.
He's been there for a few weeks now without much interest and it breaks my heart. He was originally wandering with a shy little female who has since been adopted. He's a wonderful guy, a little shy at first but very easy going and mellow. He loves affection and does great with other dogs. I'm calling him a cattle dog mix - I see a lot of heeler but I'm not sure what else is there. He's guessed to be just under 2 years old, neutered, UTD on vaccinations, and is chipped.
I can't say enough about his personality and how he has taken everything right in stride. It's not easy being a shelter dog, especially one that has been through everything he has. I love this little guy and I would love to see him go to a great home where he can recover and get everything that he needs and deserves. If you can help me get the word out about him that would be great!
Please contact the Mat-Su Animal Care shelter at 907-746-5500 for more info on Indy.
(I was not able to insert a photo of Indy, but he is a handsome, medium-sized (35-40 lb) tri-colored brown-eyed guy with lots of red in his coat. If you p-mail me I can send you the photos.)
TC, thanks! I just emailed your friend about this, didn't see your post until now. Yes, a photo would be terrific. Email it to me and I'll take care of it. Thanks!
