DOWNEY CA: $200 pledged friendly TRIPOD came in with necrotic injurey, right leg then amputated, now on death row---*SPECIAL NEEDS ALERT* GORGEOUS 5 y/o BUFF ORANGE FLUFFY URGENT

Toffee needs an immediate rescue with plan for his recovery from right leg amputation. He will need a nice bacteria-free environment, unlike the kill shelter. The shelter is the contact, but best to go thru the volunteers, in this case Lili Geyelin at lili.geyelin@gmail.com (lili.geyelin at gmail.com) who will manage pledges and help by arranging pull. Info is in the link (my blog post). I lizardmarsh am not a contact - only the messenger. Time is of the utmost essence.
Toffee A4800189 has more pledges now ($335) if an approved rescue gets him. Medical notes have been added to the post. His last day will be tomorrow 2/22. Nobody has offered to rescue him as far as I know. Please refer to above blog postand ask Lili any questions if you would like to rescue him. Downey is a very high-kill facility so if one adopts or rescues other impounds besides Toffee it conceivably makes rescuers and donors more available for Toffee (I crossposted some extremely urgent kitties just now HERE.)
excerpt:
Toffee needs a safe place to recover that's not bacteria ridden and super stressful as Downey is.
By all accounts he's friendly, but must be in terrible pain.
PLEASE PLEDGE TOWARDS HIS RESCUE!

Please help by pledging, networking and of course, rescuing. Networking saves lives
There is still nobody for Toffee. His extension is up today 2/22. Lili is the volunteer contact for him if a rescuer is interested in getting him. He is young, friendly, handsome, fluffy and WORTH SAVING! He has $335 in pledges if a rescue is interested in getting him.
Awww poor Toffee. Thank you for the update, we have our paws & tails crossed that he gets out of the shelter.

I'm very confused as to why they did the amputation on Feb. 13 and even before Toffee is healed they would consider killing him. Why not find a foster home for recovery if even considering an amputation? Perhaps I'm clueless but this situation just does not make sense.
I would think it would be a little scary for any potential adopter to consider a cat with stitches/staples and missing a leg. I wish Toffee the best.
Thank you Liz for all the great work you do.
Kerren and Trikitty Mona (who was adopted from a no-kill shelter)
Very sharp observation Kerren, thanks. Now I'm curious too.

Volunteers are indeed networking for fosters, rescuers, and donors. That is why I help send out the alerts, including to this forum. You are correct in that a rescuer and foster home are needed. It would be nice if qualified people would volunteer to rescue and foster Toffee. I am sorry if the alerts are not clear. The shelter is a high-kill shelter, as I indicated. They kill a lot (high kill). It does not matter that the shelter did surgery on him previously. The pledges for a rescue to take Toffee are now at $350.
A rescuer has offered to take Toffee. MeoowzResq.org in Orange County CA. Please inquire there if interested. Thanks.
That's great! Thanks for the update and all you do to help the animals!
