Harper is a wonderful little (~40 lbs) 2 year old GSD-mix in need of a cat-free forever home, with a fenced-in yard. I've had the pleasure of babysitting miss Harper for extended blocks of time over the past few months, and I can honestly say that if it weren't for my cats, she'd have found her forever home with me and become my second tripawd pup (her prey drive is way too strong to cohabitate with feline housemates - my cats are kept in a separate portion of the house when Harper comes to visit). I absolutely adore Harper, and wish so much that she could live with cats. Harper is a sweet, LOVING dog - such a cuddly girl, who loves to be brushed and showered with attention. Her favorite thing is to be near her person!
When she was found by the county shelter, she had a terrible leg injury that required her left front leg to be amputated, and has some scars on her remaining paws, likely from whatever happened to her (the scars are merely cosmetic). She has been living in a home and has been out of the shelter since January 2014 - things didn't work out with the resident dog in her adoptive home, so she's been in a foster home since July 2014 (contact info for her foster mama is in the petfinder link). She is spayed and up-to-date on distemper and rabies vaccines. Harper is heartworm negative, and she is on flea/tick and heartworm prevention monthly.
In her last home, she wasn't walked regularly and walking is now a stressful ordeal for her (she's currently on medication to help lessen her anxiety, and she does better with regular exercise in a fenced in yard). She is a leash-reactive dog, but it is obvious that right now walks are somewhat stressful for her; it is a lot of stimuli, and she's never sure what's going to be around the next corner! While this is something we are working through, she will likely never be a dog that will enjoy mingling with other dogs while on leash. BUT, that being said, Harper loves to play with other dogs off leash! I have two dogs of my own who love when Harper comes to visit because it means they get to play with their "girlfriend" - she has a BLAST playing with them, and with her foster brothers. She also loves to cuddle with other dogs inside. She is a toy girl all the way - stuffies, ropes, anything that squeaks or once squeaked, and her special squishy once-squeaky ball that goes nearly everywhere with her.
Awwww...sich a cutie!!! That face!!! Sooooo sweet!!!!
Thank for for all yoj are doing to help Harper! Souls like you just make my heart sing!
And thank you forhelping her make such great strides towards her forever home and for your up front honesty also about her "challenges".

You certainly are in the right spot for people "pre-disposition" to adopt tripawds!
Thanks for taking the time to bring Harper to the site. Hope we can get some good results for you.

She sounds like fun! And a lot like me too. It took me a while but I'm cool now when we go for walks. I know with the right people and skewl Harper will be a pawfect pup!

Miss Harper was ADOPTED this past weekend!!! She gets to live in a home with a canine sibling, a huge fenced in yard to play in (and hunt bunnies/squirrels in), and new parents who will continue to work with her on her issues/won't push her to go on walks if they're ultimately too much for her to handle - couldn't ask for anything more for such a wonderful dog. I'll miss babysitting this little lady, but couldn't be happier for her and her new family.
Woohoo! Best of luck to Harper in her new home! It sounds perfect!!!!
