Hi Elizabeth and everyone,

Thanks for trying! He about 55 lbs, I think, and very medium size. Not too tall, sort of compact, not very long. If this gives you and idea... 🙂

Update on Hopalong...With a little research Kris and I have learned some interesting things about this cute little guy. For starters his real name is Jesse (maybe he is in the witness protection program so they changed his name). Ok maybe not. Kris called the Aztec Humane Society out of curiosity because the Boulder Humane Society didn't have much info on him. Fortunately, they remembered him since he is a Tripawd. He is considered a throw away because the original owners couldn't keep him. His name is Jesse and he is only about 2 1/2 years old. He has been a Tripawd since January 2010 due to an accident with a 4-wheeler NO CANCER!!! Sounds like the Aztec Humane society is the one that amputated his leg. We also learned from the Boulder Humane Society that he has worn teeth. Lets clarify worn, Kris went and met this little guy and he has one canine that may have been broken and worn down. Nothing too drastic. Kris said he is a very sweet cuddly boy. He does show his cattle dog traits when it comes to other dogs and herding. He meets them and then tries to herd them. Overall he is a sweetheart.

You guys are PAWESOME for looking into this, thanks. I'll put an update in Facebook. I wish we could take him in, but Wyatt's not ready for that. We'll help any way we can though to get him a home.

Nice sleuthing. Jessie is definitely a better suited name for this guy. (They named my dog "Hopalong" too. It must be their generic tripawd name.) Still no takers?

If someone can get him to Ohio, I know Dan (Spirit Gus' dad) would take him!   But his daughter is expecting her baby this week and he's busy doing baby house projects for her!

I was thinking he would be a perfect farm dog!

I have gotten nothing but negatives here in the northwest.  All the rescue groups I know are full or he is too young, or because he has an amputation he is considered special.  I know from dealing with Sammy that 3 legs are just as good, but trying to convince others is difficult.

I am running out of connections here.

Elizabeth and Sammy

Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in the right front leg 8/23/10,

leg fractured 8/27/10,

leg amputated 8/30/10

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us.  Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.

Good job on the research.  I know we can get him to Ohio, if he is wanted.  Home for the holidays, yea!

I live in Southern Indiana and love a good road trip.  Count me in on the rescue railroad…that is if he needs to get to Ohio.

Leslie

PS  I guess I should say if he needs to get anywhere in this region.

Hi,  I live in north central Ohio ( Mansfield area) and would love to be able to help Jesse get closer to his potential furever home.

I had problems logging in as I forgot my password and got caught in a seemingly endless password reset cycle....

Please let me know if I can in any way help!

Hey guys, as much as I would love to have this guy I can't say I can take him right now, don't get me wrong I would love to have him and have seriously considered trying to work something out, but I think I am taking a breather with dogs until we see what kind of schedule we have with this new baby, which is in the process of arriving as I type, she was induced this morning so we are playing the waiting game right now. I am going to keep tabs on this one since he looks like he would be a perfect fit for us, and of course I have no problem with a tripawd, but if someone finds him a good home then thats great, at least I know he is safe from being put down where he is at. Paws up, Spirit Gus and Dan

My buddy Gus had a left front amputation on April 7, 2010 and lived a great life until July 26,2010

Thanks, Dan. I waited 3 years after my first tripawd passed before adopting my next dear tripawd, so I completely understand. You are right, he is in good hands in Boulder. He is in no danger, so the situation is not dire. They will find him a good home, I am certain. But if there is someone here local who needs a good tripawd buddy...
