Gulf Coast STARS has a male Chesapeake setter rear leg amputee puppy. Probably 6 months old. Had surgery on October 1 , 2014 Run over and surrendered by owner. His name is ale and he is a sweetheart. You can look up Gulf Coast STARS on Facebook and contact Robin. Or email me at tbcurrier@yahoo.com
Thank you for sharing. It looks like this is the Gulf Coast Stars Facebook page? I can't seem to find that dog's info though.

I looked for it, too, as I had never heard of a Chesapeake Setter and I wanted to see what one looked like. Murphy is half Chesapeake Retriever, but looks very much like his Lab mother. He gets the big head from the Chessie side. If the pup is actually a Chesapeake Retriever, I hope he gets a family that knows what they are like. Chessies tend to be very smart, but also extremely stubborn. Lots of intensive training if you are going to have a good dog. They are a special breed, though.
Kathi and Murphy
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
