My ipad is having fits on this site lately, and when I tried to send an email to the rescue on the laptop, nothing happened...just a blank screen. I will keep trying. Not sure what my ipad is trying to accomplish lately.
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
Hi Murphsmom, did you try to go to your email and just type in the email address of rescuedmom@gmail.com rather than clicking on the link on the website? Using a laptop I got hungup clicking on the link but finally got an email through typing it in.
Sally, another email for a recommendation sent!
Kerren, Mona and Eli

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Thanks, Kerren. The email has been sent.

My ipad has been wacky also. Not sure what is going on. I am going to send her an email also. She will get so swamped by our email traffic, that she will say "please come get this puppy"
TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
YOU GUYS ARE AN INCREDIBLE POWERFUL FORCE!!!
Whille many rescue groups would find this refreshing to know that so many people cared about helping to get their animals placed in a loving home......
Wags 2 Wishes. Is not one of them!
I got home from work tonigh 11:00 to find an message from "Terrir" who was very "irritated" and very "annoyed".....her volunteers were forwarding ALL these emails to her!!!! he message was very garbled and I only got bits and pieces of it.....but she wanted me to ask my friends to STOP!!!
Soooo....ever so reluctantly...I jave to ask that NO MORE EMAILS BE SENT!!!! She said they would NOT be adopting him out before Christmas anyway.....although, I do believe their posts talks about getting Gunther in a home for the holidays!
Now make no mistake about it.....I AM TICKLED PINK WITH YOUR ENTHUSIASM AND YOUR "BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY" SUPPORT!!! I am soooooo touched!!!! AND I AM THRILLED FOR EVERY SINGLE EMAIL UPYOU TOOK THE TIME TO SEND!!!!!!
Again, every organization is different, but all are made up of human beings who do their best to help animals. Some would see this type of support a HUGE plus and speaks volumes about what a good life Gunther would have. Some see it differently..."annoying"....:-) tee...hee.....I don't mean to chuckle, but I can only imagine whoever was receiving all ofhese emails all of the sudden must have flipped out! YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!
I think the outpouing of love that jas happened here today, and the commitment to helping this tripawd come home...a kind and loving home who understands the needs of a tripawd.....and will take them every Tuesday for a puppy latte.....is just BEAUTIFUL.....just BEAUTIFUL!!!
I thank you....each of you....from the bottom of my heart for caring so deeply!!!!!
With heartfelt gratitude!!!!!!!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Well bah humbug. I could see how receiving tons of emails might be annoying, but wonder if it made any of them smile...even just for a second, at the outpouring of love. I hope they consider you Sally. It really will be a travesty if they don't. If they don't see it, well I know we will all be heart broken for you but it will just mean that the space you have in your heart needs to be left open because Happy Hannah has someone else in store for you.

I'm sorry sally. I figured emails would be easy to put to the side and read at one's convenience vs having their phone ring. I understand their commitment to finding the animals good homes. Will you still fill out an application? If so, let me know what you would need from me.
I'm still jist beaming at the "Force for Good" called Tripawds!
For now, I'm just going to back off a bit and rethink if I want to proceed. While I have NO doubt Gunther would have THE best home possible here with me, I have a few red flags now that trying to move forward with this individual will just waste our time.,
Through emails and phone .essages, she's made refences to how I've "started off on the wrong foot" by calling her late at night and has made some rather insulting and offensive remarks that just let me know she js making this "personal"
I'm just going to give you one sample....when I called at 10:00 at night and she answered.I was shocked that I didn't a voice mail. I immediately apologized for calling so late and explained agajn, and again and again, how I was expecting to get their voicemail.....
Yet this one incident, along with my TRIPAWD REFERENCES....YAAAAAAAAAY.....I LOVE YOU GUYS.......continued to tick her off and be brought up as "getting off on tthe wrong foot" with her....and that was one of her NICER comments to me. I've written ....in my opinion ...EXTREMELY gracious apologizes so we could focus on getting Gunther home....but she can't seem to move last my "internet friends" whom Ivew never met"....geez Elizabeth...could nave sworn you and I have met, and with Myrtle in tow!!! I clearly would be walking on eggshells and have no doubt I would unintentionally make some little misstep that would not lkease her.
She even wrote a rude letter to someone here who sent in a reference!
Anyway, I have no illusions that I would be turned down...I'm sure now they would say because I was out of state.
Happy Hannah will make sure we get the right dog. I know that will happen! I just REALLY hope Gunther gets someone with trilawd knowledge! It looked like he had the scapula left in and even and little nub left. His owners need to know how to protect him. A d it sounds like he has grlwth plate lroblems too.
Think I'll try and just stick to Virginja for now!
Okay....tomorrow night...and for the next five nights.....let's call TERRI at 10:00 and wish her good night!!!!!!!!

Sally,
Major LOL after reading your post !! You'll have to excuse me, but what a piece of work this chick is......."getting off on the wrong foot with her" .....I am banging my head on the wall, trying to figure out how in the heck this person handles dogs and rescue of them. From most of my experience with these rescue type people, through working at my veterinary hospital, they have been pretty awesome, and caring people.....I would have never thought all our support for you would back-fire in this way, so I would say I'm sorry, but I can't, because I will never be sorry for supporting you as my friend, this just isn't the right rescue for you, and hopefully this sweet boy Gunther will get the proper home.
Happy Hannah will take care of things for you, and some other fantastic pup will find their way to you through her.....
Much Love,
Bonnie & Angel Polly
She obviously did not read my email at all because I specifically talked about how I have met both you and Myrtle; and, how great/sweet Myrtle was with my tripawd Tanner. I know sometimes dog rescue people can be very picky and very busy, but I don't think I have ever come across any who have been down right rude to someone who was trying to adopt one of their dogs. I feel sorry for the dogs b/c I'm not quite sure this lady is looking out for their best interest over her own personal appeasement. Perhaps it is their policy not to adopt out of state, and for whatever reason that's just how it is, but she could have been nice and said how refreshing it is to see people who care. UGH
Sally, just keep your heart open because there is going to be a dog that comes your way I just know it.

Sally,
I am so sorry. I am honestly livid. It hurts my heart that someone would treat you like that. The rescue process isnt easy, and for a first time rescuer (as I was when I rescued bets), it is hard enough to get used to the process. (Again, I agree with the process, I understand why they have questionaires, and home visits, etc, and I applaud them for their commitment to such a process to ensure the dogs go to good homes) However, I would hope they realize how they could effect potentional future people wishing to rescue. There is an unspoken ettiquette when applying to a rescue, I have just never heard of someone being so harsh if someone went outside their "guidelines". There are GREAT people out there wanting to help dogs and cats..you will find them! Bets and Bob come from great rescues...it just took some digging and patience to find them. You'll find one too...!
Hi Sally,,
I wrote to you i orivate as well, but so sad to read about Gunther/the rescue - You'd think that they would be reading into all of this someone who cares immensely about Gunther, someone who obviously knows about large-breed tripawds, their needs and care requirements, and someone who has a support group of friends, both internet and real (that comment made me so angry about the 'internet friends'!!!) who are also well-versed about tripawds! If a more perfect match exists for his future people I can't imagine it really...
I thought I'd share here what I write to you as well as it does seem tricky sometimes with the out-of-state adoptions (or out-of-country in our case)
I almost had a similar experience with our Cooper. We saw his story about being shot and needing an amputation and it was 'love at first read'. I contacted the rescue who had saved him from the pound and funded his amputation, Girard Lifesaver Rescue in Georgia, and the woman was just so nice and answered all of my questions, etc. she did say though that he was already 'promised' to a rescue in Maine (many Southern State rescues send their dogs up to Northern States for adoption) and put me in contact with them. I called them, explained my interest, that we had a tripawd cat, experience with hounds, etc. to say she was cool and aloof is an understatement and she talked about not liking out-of-State, much less out of Country (Canada) adoptions and that one of her friend's friends (!) might be interested. I was so disappointed! Not much I could do though... I sent a small donation to the first rescue, Girard, as they were raising funds for his vet bills that had been high with the amputation, and I sent e-mails to her inquiring about how he was recuperating and rehabilitating.
Lo and behold a couple of weeks later Samantha from Girard calls me up and tells me that she just feels in her heart that we are meant to be his people and that even if it means angering the Maine rescue (which it did, they never agreed to help with her dogs after that) she felt we were right for him :)!
We gave references (our vet, the local rescues where Colby and Cinta are from and who had done home visits), I even sent pictures of every room in our house to her :)! Though 'My Buddy's Coming Home' transport they brought him from Georgia to NYC and we drove the 12 hour return trip to meet him there, I cried when I met him :)!
In this case perseverance paid off, you would think that Gunther's rescue would read into your interest and support just how commited and knowledgeable you are about him and tripawds, and that you have an amazing support community along this journey... Here's crossing paws that they come to their senses and see the amazing fit!
I too trust though that Happy Hannah is looking out for you (and for Gunther I'm sure) and both he and you will find that perfect match!
Hugs from Montreal,
A.

I can't even one single polite word to express how angry I am that this rescue reacted like this Sally. You are a better human than I am for being so kind and keeping your awesome sense of humor.
It makes me sad that in many instances, rescue animals are the ones who pay the price of being in the hands of unstable lunatics.
OK, was that polite enough? Grrr.
Wishing a Merry Christmas to all the puppies and kitties who are in the hands of rescues everywhere, may they all find a home as loving as Sally and Myrtles....
