Hey all!

There is an awesome dog rescue in Fort Collins called Animal House and they happen to have 5 month old purebred Border Collie puppy up for adoption. When he was a pup, a horse stomped his back leg and he had to have it and his tail amputated. To see more about his story visit their website and his profile here:

His name is Buddy and the times I've visited him I've fallen in love! If only we had the room!

Please help this amazing boy find a home!

Oh Sasha how I wish we could take this boy home to our doghouse on wheels! What a sweetie.

Thanks for letting us know, we will do our best to spread the word.

P.S. How are you? I was just thinking about you the other day! It's been a long time.

Hi Jerry! He's such a sweetie and he would've been snatched up right away given his breed and age but people get so nervous taking on a tripawd pup, which now just baffles me but I know we've been there... Hopefully someone awesome will come along and be the perfect fit :)

I'm sorry for being an absent pooch :( We've been lurking but life has gotten a little crazy...

Things with us are going very well! Sasha's living like a rockstar and continues to make us proud everyday :) Between swimming, hiking, and playing fetch, her life is definitely better without that stinkin' painful leg.

We do have some huge changes ahead of us however... I graduate from CSU next week, Ben starts Grad School at CS Denver in June, and the biggest news of all... we're expecting a baby boy in three weeks! So life has been a little hectic for sure but absolutely wonderful and are very thankful that we decided to do Sasha's surgery when we did! Now she's just as ready for the next phase as we are :) She has already taken over the nursery as her new guard job and has become my shadow even more. I'm sure she'll be very happy to have a baby to watch over again. (The home we adopted her from had two little girls that she adored.)

As you can see below, no one's told her that she's supposed to be slower or any less of a boss dog winker. She still always needs the biggest stick...

Hope you all are well!! We've missed you all and would love to try and figure out a time this summer for another, hopefully sunnier, get-together!! This time we'll have a certified tripawd and a baby boy!

Holy MOLY do you have some changes! Congratulations Momma! Now you have a Tripawd and a bi-pawd! Wooohoo! That is really exciting news. Sasha will make a GREAT family dawg and baby protector, she is going to love playing that role.

I'm hoppy to hear she's doing great. See, GSDs are unstoppable! I'm bummed her photo didn't show up though :(

Yes, we will definitely be hosting another pawty, only this time we'll do it in September or early October, so stay tuned for that news OK?

Teena,

There are multiple groups across the country that do Rescue Transports.  They will figure out a route from point A to Point B and then post a run sheet visible to all of us volunteers.  Basically, drivers sign up to drive a 'leg' that is coming near them.  It's kind of like a relay - drivers will meet up at a predetermined location, switch the dog from one car to the other and then drive it an hour or two down the road to meet up with the next driver.  As long as it is a legit transport group, it is a VERY controlled transport - the transport group is usually a 501(c)(3) group, all volunteer drivers must be approved by the transport group to include providing referenced (the groups I have driven for did actually call my vet and my personal references).  The transport groups are very careful b/c they don't want to help 'rescue' a dog from a shelter only to deliver it right into the hands of a dog fighter, so they usually only transport for groups/shelters/rescues that they have thoroughly approved.  I'm sure if the rescue that has this dog contacted one of them, they could get approved.  The two big ones are CherryHarley Transports and The Liberty Train.

Just a thought!

Lisa

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11.  A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

That would be awesome Tails A Waggin! Lisa, thanks for the transport info! Hopefully it can all work out :)

My friend works at the rescue so I got in touch with her and she said that they haven't done transport before but they don't necessarily have a rule against it. They've been great to work with in my experience and really just care about the right match for their dogs so hopefully they get back in touch with you soon! I can't get over how adorable his little face is! He deserves a special home for sure.

@ Sashadog - So I tried calling but they would not except my number, I even tried *82 to unblock it but no go what-ever...probably because I was calling from Canada.

My original email was via their website so I emailed the president of the rescue directly with my questions, so hopefully I will hear something very soon.  I also sent the info for Cherry Harley Transports, so I hope they will consider it.

I did try contacting Cherry Harley Transport, as well, however, they are not available to chat with until May 15 and will not have any transports until June...it may take until then to get it organized anyway.

Anyway, I am trying to help out this handsome boy but we will have to see...I truly believe in fate so maybe this isn't meant to be, but I am not giving up just yet!

Cheers,

Teena

Teena, please just let me know if there's anything I can do on this end! I have a good feeling about this one and sometimes it just takes a few people helping out to make good things happen :)

It's only a couple minute drive so I would be more than happy to go talk to them myself and pass on your information if they don't respond to your email promptly. I know they're pretty short staffed and rely mostly on volunteers so I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a little while. But please don't hesitate to let me know what I can do in person!

Thank you for considering this sweet boy! He's just itching for someone with a passion for BC's!
