Pound Rescue in Alberta, Canada has this boy in their capable care. He would love a good home.
Age: AdultSex: Male
Breed: American Staffordshire x Labrador
Petey is American Staffordshire x Labrador, maybe 8 - 9 years old, weighing about 57 pounds.
He was found as a stray with a badly injured and infected leg which had to be amputated. He gets around all right but would do best in a home without stairs - or at least very few. He is good around kids and is very good in the house.
He would do best with older kids as he is sometimes a little wobbly on his legs. He loves attention and loves exploring the yard, sun bathing and the occasional game of tag!
He is a very relaxed boy but is also a good watch dog - alerting me to anyone coming to close to the yard. He is neutered and vaccinated with very good health except he is on thyroid medication - a pill twice daily.

I see your post and I found LOTS of nice and deserving dogs on that website. Didn't know about this group before but sounds like a great rescue group. Will try to circulate it amongst my Alberta pals, although they probably know about it.
Sent them an email to see if Lila (a 3-4 yr female Great Pyrenees they have that is healing from some rather horrible sounding wounds, and so lacks a fur coat for the coming winter (it will grow back)) needs Tazzie's XXL coat from last year, and whether Petey can use some of his tripawd gear (sticky boots). The overcoat was too big for Tazzie, but probably perfect for a half-naked Great Pyrenees living in Canada.
I see him now. Must've been a heebie jeebie. He is adorable! Good job Tazzie and people for all that you do. I hope he finds someone who will love him and give him a good home.

Awwwww, I would take him but I have so many stairs at my place. What a great caring place that rescue is for taking in such deserving animals. Tai would stamp her paw of approval.

Tai – 9 yr old lab. Diagnosed Osteosarcoma Dec 18/09. Front right leg amputated Dec 21/09. Started chemo Jan 7/10. Lung mets discovered Sept 16/10. Valiant to the end on Oct 26/10 when cancer reappeared in a leg and we made the decision to set her free. Forever in my heart where not even cancer can take her from me.
