!!ADOPTED!! Poplin has been adopted - yay! Go meet one of her other awesome tripawd neighbors listed below her photo!
Under this sweet face and curls there’s a bold tri-athlete ready to play! Poplin is a miniature poodle puppy and here’s what Needy Paws Rescue in St. Louis, MO has to say about her:
Poplin is looking for a home, with NO CHILDREN and a small companion dog for her to play with. She will need ongoing supplements for her back leg and needs to be kept active. SHE IS NOT A LAP DOG.
Poplin came to us last September and she was not really using her back legs due to a genetic knee issues and her adopters carrying her around vs letting her walk. They had her evaluated and the surgeries she needed was out of their budget so they surrendered her to Needy Paws.
She needed at least 2 surgeries but she also had to be old enough and big enough. So her foster mom worked with her doing physical therapy and got her left leg strong but her right leg never straighten out. When she was old enough she had her left knee fixed and then a few months later we decided it was best to amputate right leg.
She is all healed now and can run, run, run! She is very sweet and loves to play with other dogs. She is a bit of a bossy little thing and will do best with a companion dog that is around her size and easy going & playful. She is a bit shy at first so a calm home is best for her and someone who will continue to monitor her leg and support her physical needs. She will not be adopted to a home with children as she is under foot and easily stepped on.
If interested, please complete the adoption application at NeedyPaws.org and they will contact you.
Adopters must live within an hour's drive of St. Louis, MO.

Psst! - If Poplin’s been taken or isn’t right for you, perhaps consider fellow MO tripawds Lucas AKA Moose, Daisy, Starlight, Zelda, Jessie, Lundy, Zeus, Tigger, Jake, or Bessie Smith or if the shelters are open to it, hop the border into IL to meet Tru, Beverly, Skip, Zane, or Cornelius!
There are also some amazing trikitties in the area too - MO: Harpo, Jasper, Aunt Norma, and Sinbad, and in IL: Sybil, Edda, and Jessica!

If these tripawds aren’t near enough or the right fit for you, perhaps share them with someone who is?

Note: With any tripawd, it’s good to ask about the reason for the amputation if it’s unlisted, just to get a clearer picture of the pet’s health and history. “Unknown” isn’t a dealbreaker, but more info can help you as a pet parent make a more informed decision!

All - Do you or someone you know within an hour of St. Louis, MO, already own a small playful dog (no children), and are looking to add the fun of a poodle rocket to your life? Poplin’s your gal!

All - Good news!!!! Poplin’s been adopted!!!
Needy Paws Rescue was kind enough to share a photo of her in her new loving home with her new boyfriend, Milkshake! He loves her very much. (Now, those are two truly relaxed pups who know they’re home!)
Don’t worry, you haven’t missed out - go meet one of her other tripawd neighbors listed in the main post above!
