Sadie is a 3 year old Great Dane/ Lab mix who was hit by a car and had her right rear leg amputated on 1-9-13. She is still recovering and will not be ready for a new home until she has recovered from her surgery. Her owner surrendered her to Gretchen's Place Great Dane Rescue in Deer Park, WA when her care became overwhelming. She is currently in a foster home. She is great with kids. Her interactions with other dogs, cats, chickens and other farm animals will be evaluated and posted soon. According to her previous owner she loves to play with balls, she loves to bury her toys and is very active. It is noted that she has skin allergies and some ear issues. These seem to have resolved alot when she is given vitamins. She is currently living in Chattaroy, WA which is north of Spokane. Transportation can be arranged for the right home. If you are interested in adopting Sadie please contact Sandee at gpgdrescue@aol.com. There is an application and small adoption fee. You can also contact her foster mother, Rayna at 509 276-1769 for any questions. I have pictures but cant figure out how to post them, I can email them.
Sadie sounds like such a sweetheart.
Rayna, if you would like to check out these tips on posting pics it can help. Otherwise just private message us (see button to the top right of my post) and attache the pics, I'm happy to do it for you.
Thanks for giving this great girl the love and care she deserves for a full recuperation.

If you want I can post info on my facebook page. I live in Western WA and have a friend who has connections with PAWS so it could get shared around quite a bit. Just let me know if you want me to post it and if it's ok to provide the contact information.

I should add that she also knows her basic commands. So far she is getting along great with my own dogs. So I can't figure out how to post the actual picture on here but the links will take you to my facebook page which is set to public so you should be able to view them. Also to the lady above- I think any help you are willing to give in finding her a great home is much appreciated and needed. Thank you!
Hi, you may want to contact PETSMART CHARITIES and see if she qualifies for the Rescue Waggin program. http://www.pets.....ue-waggin/
Rescue Waggin’ Program Fast Facts
- Our Rescue Waggin' program has helped save the lives of more than 60,000 dogs since we began operations in 2004
- We currently operate our Rescue Waggin’ program in the East Coast, Midwest, Great Plains and South Central regions of the U.S.
I just got a mixed breed (on 4 legs though) dog I rescued send from Santa Fe NM to Boulder CO where there is a lack of dogs. But as long as the dog has a good social temperament, passes the health ck up Rescue Waggin has multiple destinations where dogs are adopted out fast. New Mexico is a horrible place for dog adoptions, their shelters, especially Albuquerque and rural areas, are often to capacity, and Rescue Waggin will pick up dogs till their large truck is filled up (they are in kennels ok) and then drive them to Boulder and some also go to Denver area.
Sadie is now one month post amputation. She is doing great and is ready for her new home. She gets along with all three of my dogs, is good with my goats and wonderful with my kids ( I have 9). Sadie acts like a completely normal dog and you can not even tell that she only has three legs. She does occasionally slip on my hardwood floors but gets right back up like nothing happened. Sadie knows all of her commands and is a very well behaved dog. We have not tested her leash manners as it is snowy and icy where I live and I believe that her previous owner did not walk her on a leash. Once the ice melts we will start working on walking on a leash. If you know of a good home for Sadie please contact us at the posted email above. Her adoption fee is $150 and there is an application to fill out. All the money from the adoption fee goes back into the dogs we care for at the rescue, we do not use any of the money for administrative fees or anything like that.
Thank you so much for this update! We're glad to hear she is doing well and will do our best to get the word out. Keep us posted.
