The avatar alternate upload page still isn't working for me.
"Not working" how? Why use the Alternate? What happened when attempting to use both methods?
Please provide as much detail as possible when reporting issues to better help us troubleshoot the cause...What errors do you receive, if any? What is the complete URL of the page where you encounter trouble? What what web browser are you using? What type of device? Which OS?Have you tried another browser? Have you cleared your cache? Can you provide a screenshot? What color are your socks?
I can't seem to get the image to load upright either. Oy vey!
So...we see you have an Avatar, so the upload worked. Which method did you use? Or, are you using a Gravatar?
FYI: You need to straighten any image you want to use prior to upload.

Okay...I have to confess! . I couldn't get my picture uploaded on my tavlet with either link...the first link you gave, or the second one (the alternative one). I used the alternative because I couldn't get the first one to work. I probably needed to switch bzck to "rich text"...or whatever the other kne was. I really did try!
However, your "invisible assistant" Holly fixed it for me!! 🙂 And sweet Michelle offered too!
Much faster fixes than me trying to figues out qhich color of socks I needed to wear ro fix it! 🙂 🙂 Glad you still have your sense of humor ....I think....maybe

Hi Admin,
I used this page through the Chrome browser:
http://tripawds.....ser-avatar
In the middle of a few failed attempts, somehow the current Avatar image loaded, but sideways. It is not sideways in the original file on my computer. Even on that one occasion, I got the error message and did not get the page where you can usually crop, etc., yet when I refreshed the page, I had a sideways avatar. The message I get is:
"There was an error uploading the file. Please try again."
I attempted to use the alternate upload because the main one wasn't working. This gave the same answer.
Unrelated to the avatar, I (like some others mentioned) continue to have intermittent problems accessing the tripawds.com website. The error is something like "connection could not be established", but my network is fine and all other websites work.
Thanks for trying to figure out these problems! Those hackers are the worst.

I loved life as a tripawd for over three years following right forelimb amputation due to an aggressive and recurrent hemangiopericytoma. I reclaimed my place among the gods and valkyries in Valhalla on November 11th, 2020. My parents miss me tremendously, but I know they'll keep me in their hearts forever... and don't worry, I've approved my mom's use of my Tripawds account.
The regular upload has never worked for me. Yes it shows the whole picture, but then wants me to crop it to the size of a postage stamp. It offers no resizing options. So I have always used the alternate upload method as it does resizing. Yes, it also rotates the picture for me. I tried to outsmart it and rotated the picture first, but that did not work either, because you guessed it, no rotating that time. What I finally did to get the alternate upload to work was crop the image some. Not entirely sure why that worked, but it did. I suspect it has something to do with the image aspect ratio and the auto scaling it does, because I know that the avatar I have up now was not scaled equally in both directions. It got shrunk more in height than width. Perhaps people might have better luck if they run into issues by resizing, cropping on their own to get the image to avatar size. I tried with both a Samsung tablet and a Windows 9 computer (using chrome, I forget which version) and had the same experience.

It is always best to adjust the image prior to upload.
FYI: Upload will fail if the image is smaller than 300px or larger than 500±KB. There are no resizing options because four set sizes are automatically generated based in the image crop.

We just fixed that for you. Clear your cache or force-reload the page if you do not notice the change.
No problem here uploading the photo after rotating it first. NOTE: Uploading photos from mobile devices may result in unexplained rotation, and certain tavlet devices may always encounter ajax and javascript issues.

Just an FYI-
I reloaded my avatar yesterday from my desktop iMac (Firefox as browser) since that is where the picture I originally used was stored. I uploaded it the regular way and got the error message: "There was an error uploading the file. Please try again."
It seemed odd to me so I decided to check before I tried again. I closed my browser (Firefox) then relaunched and opened Tripawds and my avatar was there.
So the error message was itself an error... how fun is that

That happened to me too, but it was there when i went back so i didn't pay much mind to it. So many times page didn't load then all of a sudden it did.

Thanks for the feedback, keep it coming.
We're still trying to get this one sorted out...

Lost my avatar too. Getting all blubbery as I select a new photo.
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

I'm so sorry Christine! Admin tried so hard to get them back, but even he couldn't do it. Technology. Sigh.

It's ok. The old photo was from a day or two before his diagnosis. The new one is from that wonderful post-chemo summer.

UPDATE: For anypawdy playing along at home...
This has been a major pain in the arse undertaking, but we have finally made some progress. Certain sacrifices, however, may have been made.
All user avatars prior to this issue being reported (Before 10/19/17) have now been restored. We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused.
The correct avatars should now be showing for anyone who had the Default displaying instead. We say "should" since we cannot feasibly review 15,000± user accounts.
And that sacrifice? Well...anyone who has uploaded a new avatar replacement after this all occurred (After 10/19/17) may have their avatar revert to the previous version. Again, we have no certain way to determine that.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding.
