I hope I am in the right place to ask this question.....I want to possibly start a blog after losing Polly, since I didn't have very much time before her loss to do so. I was still trying to figure out how to navigate the entire website since joining in August of last year. I am not very techie. If I do start a blog, my question is, how large can a post be? My stories seem a bit long that I want to post but don't want to have a problem with them being too long, or to have too many words. If that is the case, I may have to break up my stories into parts, or chapters.
Thank you so much for this website,
Bonnie & Angel Polly
Not a techie here, either, but I think this is a wonderful tribute to Polly.
Kathi and Murphy
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
Oh good!! This will be a womderful tribute to Polly! I, like everyone here, cannot wait to get to know all about her!!
Okay, so here we go....get pen and paper and I'll take you through step-by-step!!! NOT!!!
Happy Hannah and I have been on here over a year and we still don't have a blog?!!! And the directions look soooooooo simple...for most anyway!
Ohhh, and what I wouldn't give to be able to put music to her videos or edit them.....Utopia! There are just somethings "Sally Tablet" cannot do!
You'll get help and you'll get it done! So exciting!
And Bonnie, write "whatever", "whenever", "however" you want!! Don't get hung up n those tiny details. I know as soon as you start writing, your heart will take over and guide your pen....err....your keyboad. Jist get in the zone and let it flow!!!
HUGS!

Go to: http://tripawds.....m/blogs/
then click on: "Sign up for your free tripawds blog"
Its relatively easy once you get all set up. I just looked on ours and I didn't see a "max words" when adding a post. I've read some pretty long ones too so I don't think you'll have any problems. What a great way to celebrate Polly!

Blog posts can be as long as you wish. The very nature of a blog, however, does make is simple to break up your stories or create "chapters". Simply publish a new post for each. You may also create Pages which are different—they remain static and part of your navigation, while Posts fall in line with others in your blog, in reverse chronological order. And, you can of course, upload as many photos as you like.
You can change the look of your blog, with more than 130 themes to choose from, on the Appearance page of your dashboard. All Tripawds Blogs are free to use. You can remove the ads, add extra upload space for more photos, and unlock other enhanced options by upgrading with a Tripawds Supporter Blog subscription.
Click "Join" in the main menu under the header or the Sign Up Now button above the forms to start your blog. Note: You are already a member of this main Tripawds News site. Click add another site to create your own blog for Polly. Be sure to review the first default post in your new blog and see the sidebars for lots of helpful links. Watch our Help Videos for helpful tips to get started or feel free to ask any question here.
Hope this helps!

Sounds like you got some great advice! i started a blog mainly to track my journey with Shelby and I have found it very cathartic to remember the good with the bad and I think it will help me in the long run. I am not a writer but it flows easily for me. My mom (who isn't a registered user) reads my blog and loves hearing the updates. She also thinks my friends here (you ALL) are so kind and loving and supportive to me. She is happy to hear her daughter is in such a supportive environment.
I look forward to hearing MORE about Polly's beautiful life!
Hugs,
Alison and Shelby

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Thanks for your support as well, Alison.....this support group truly is like an extended family, and one we all need to help us through good times, and not so good....I am glad your mom can share this journey with you and Shelby here, too.
It's so funny you used the word "cathartic" in your post, I used the word in my first sentence, of my first story to start my blog with.

Howdy!
You guys make me feel so much better! I've been trying to get my blog started and am having a "dog" of a time! LOL! I didn't think I was a real slow learner until I tried to get this whole thing going for my Harmony. Lord-have-mercy!
It wasn't until I just read that a page and a post are two different things and entirely different from the posts on the forums.
Harmony became a Tripawd on 10/21/14 (MCT). She left us way too soon on 11/1/14.

Yeah...it's definitely a learning experience. I have nothing to do with "social media" except for this community so learning how to "blog" was a real treat...
I too felt like the little "minion" when I was learning. Admin will get you on the right track...heck I had hit something when I started my blog that wouldn't allow people to see my writings....but thanks to Admin guy that got straightened out. Oh and I just learned very recently how to post pics in the forums.
Hang in there...you'll get it!!!

May you finally be healthy and running free at the Rainbow Bridge. Until we meet again my sweet boy!

Thanks so much!
I watched a few of the videos before hand, but my dashboard doesn't match "his" dashboard. I was still able to extrapolate some useful information. I'll figure it out, eventually. LOL!
I do have one query though; when I chose my theme and activated it, the text area of my post was so narrow and the type so small you can barely read it. I have all this screen to use, but only a third of it is being used in the middle for info. Here's a screen shot. What that heck am I doing wrong? THANKS AGAIN!

Absolutely nothing. With most themes, you have no control over the the blog layout. Some are narrow, some are wide, some with big text, all with different styles...That's why we offer more than 100+ to choose from!
Now about that screenshot above, it seems like you pasted in a valid image URL but there is apparently no such photo in that album.

"Harmony", while you're adjusting things.....I went to reply to your blog yesterday and it rewuired me to fill in my email address, etc. Dont know "how", , but I know you do "something" to eliminate that. (This tidbit of info. from someone who has yet to do a blog...after almost two years!!)
Also, if you have a tablet......it doesn't "match" the screens a lot of times that real computers have or the directions here.
YAY FOR YOU .....YOU HAVE A BLOG!!!
