To all members of the international Tripawds community:

The Tripawds UK Facebook Group and Tripawds UK Rescue Page manager has clearly made her thoughts known regarding the recent "split from tripawds.com" so we would like to provide details about recent events that resulted in our disassociation with that group and page. She has posted false accusations and defamatory remarks about about us personally (Tripawds founders Jim and Rene) and how we manage Tripawds that we feel a public response is required to set the record straight.

For more than 7 years, we have taken painstaking efforts to grow and maintain a website, discussion forums, live chat, free blog network, and social media presence in the best interest of the entire Tripawds community. Our mission is to provide a platform of support for anyone facing a cancer diagnosis and/or amputation for their beloved pet. We offer a vast repository of information here at tripawds.com and in our discussion forums and featured blogs. We only sell products that we have either personally used and reviewed, or that we feel would be beneficial to anyone coping with the diagnosis, treatment, recovery and care of an amputee dog or cat.

When Caroline Murphy first created the Tripawds UK group, we reached out to her with an offer to manage an official chapter representing Tripawds® in the United Kingdom and informed her that TRIPAWD/s is a registered trademark which we own.

We presented a few simple requests we had if she wished to use the TRIPAWD/s name. We provided and she agreed to abide by certain rules and procedures for managing the group bearing the Tripawds name. Among other things, these policies included making a Resources document available on the group's Files tab filled with links to many of the most informative Tripawds blog posts, forum topics, video interviews and product reviews. We also suggested that Caroline frequently remind new group members of the many helpful resources available in the Tripawds blogs and forums. Finally we asked Caroline to be a regular contributor in the Tripawds News blog and discussion forums, to encourage members from the United Kindom to connect with others in the Tripawds UK Facebook group.

We were granted Admin privileges to the group, but let Caroline manage it, which she did effectively. Eventually, the information for the group's About section and suggested pinned welcome post were deleted. The helpful Tripawds resources for new members that we had provided were replaced with links of Caroline's choosing. Instead of directing those faced with an amputation for their dogs to informative articles, members were now greeted with links to view Caroline's appearance on local television. Instead of a reading list of helpful links, members were provided one link to the Tripawds branded UK rescue page we created at Caroline's request.

Well aware of her health conditions and understanding her fragile emotional state, we chose to allow Caroline to continue managing the group and page as she saw fit. Over the years, however, our posts would be periodically and without explanation deleted when attempting to offer beneficial feedback by directing group members to our various resources and/or e-books.

Recently, Jim has been researching effective management of Facebook pages and groups for his upcoming BlogPaws presentation. He had hoped to show off the Tripawds chapter groups during his talk, so he attempted to implement some minor changes that he would be discussing, for the betterment of the group. Specifically, he changed the group's cover photo to direct members attention to the Files tab, which it has been proven that many group members overlook. Assuming he was doing Caroline a favor by not asking her to make the change, he updated the cover photo and immediately commented on the photo with an explanation of what he was doing. He then noticed that the Resources doc was no longer at the top of the Files list and it included an outdated link to the Tripawds library.

Within minutes, the cover photo was changed back, and the entire Resources doc had been deleted. He messaged Caroline to explain his efforts, and was only told, "Rene has email."

In that email, Caroline expressed how she was "deeply upset" by the changes Jim made. What ensued was an email conversation the quickly degraded into her accusing us of undertaking "a rampage of torment" that caused her to be hospitalized. In the meantime, we discovered that our Admin privileges had been removed from the Tripawds UK group. Wondering what might happen next, and concerned about any unwarranted public backlash that might occur on the Tripawds UK Rescue Page, we demoted her Admin role on the page to Editor, allowing her to continue maintaining the page and using Facebook as the Page, but removing her ability to delete us as Admins until she indicated a willingness to work this situation out amicably.

This was apparently the last straw for Caroline. She continued to email us expressing her outrage, suggesting it would be better for her to disassociate from Tripawds. Thereaafter Jim then removed any mention of Tripawds branding from the page, removed the profile pic he had designed and renamed the page to Tripods UK Rescue.

After repeated pleas to her that were ignored, and her subsequent notifification that we had personally put her in the hospital with a stress induced stroke, we granted her full admin privileges to the Page, and removed ourselves from both the page and the Group. Despite our actions she felt it necessary to publicly accuse us "bullying and abuse" and called us "monsters" in a statement on the Tripods UK Rescue Page.

We have repeatedly apologized for any stress or personal harm we may have caused Caroline by our actions, and we are sorry to see our relationship on such a sour note. We do not post this topic to plead for support or ask anyone to take our side. We know that anyone who knows us—and our continuing efforts to maintain this website and any social media presence in the best interest of the Tripawds community—will see the truth. We only share these details here as a point of public record and to inform any Tripawds UK group members who may be interested in hearing our side of the story.

Thank you all for your understanding and continued support.

As a follow up and final word on this situation, I am posting a PDF of the email conversation that Caroline and I had yesterday, here.

By reading through the emails, it's clear that the conversation I had with her in no way reflects the grossly inaccurate and defamatory scene she has conveyed to the UK page and group audience.

WOW.... I am so not a fan of drama but WOW .... I'm happy to (as I have said in the past) offer any of my skills as either an event planner or fundraiser to the Tripawds to help raise the funds to keep this beautiful site up and going long after we are all here. This website continues to be a major lifeline for me and while I am grieving deeply now, I sing your praises daily on either Facebook or Instagram!

Happy to help however I can since I don't have the deepest pockets but I have the passion and the know-how!

Cheers!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Circling the wagons is a VERY apt phrase. Those who know you and Jim will know what is true in this situation.

And yes, Sally, Ribbons was a Brit. I thought of that, too.

Kathi and Murphy

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

DANG! Can't get Happy Hannah's "card posted from photobucket!...stay tuned!!

And yet another reason I'm not a face booger!! Well, this and I thinkyou jave to have computer skills.

Jim ad Rene, youjave devoted seven days a week, 24 hours a day flrover seven years to helping others on this journey. Even as Jerry's health was "failing...even as you had to give him the "gift"...even as you were in a desperate state of grief over his "transition"...you were here on the site reaching out to others.

You two have been coaches, cheerleaders, teachers, role models, grief counselors, our friends, oir family, our Zen Masters, our Computer Professor for those who don't know the difference between a cached cookie and a Pepperidge Farm Cookie and a "cache refister".

You have been our lifeline andyou jave given our dogs and cats life. You have provided a platform where human beings can become empowered by the love of strangers.....a platform where kindness flows through each individual here and flows through onto the next. You two have en a "force for good" since the day Jerry picked you as his human soul mates.

NO ONE can tarnish who you are with their words. No one can undermine your accomplishments with threats. No one can put up with Wyatt Ray 's quirkiness better than you....and that is definitely an example of your "strength of character"!

It hurts when someone attacks your integrity. It hurts when someone lashes out in sich a hurtful and "dishonest" way. No matter that you know...we know...none of its true...it still hurts. And I guess therein lies the life lesson.....as long as you live true to your purpose and let nothig deter you from your mission and come from a loving place (some days can be a little "less loving" than others though), then you will continue to be the beacon of light you were born to be. Well, I'm not sure that's exactly a "life lesson" out of all this, but it's still true. One thi g I DO knpw, this has NOTHING to do withyou...it really ks Ms. Murphys issues...her learning lessons...clearlyit's about so much more as far as her soul's growth. And cleary she's done a lot of good and has devoted many longhours to helping others. I'm sorry she's having health issues and I'm sorry she's lost touch with her humanity. Hopefuly this will be a good turning point for her.

You will only be strengthened and filled with even more certainty and validation of mission. We've seen your work first hand! We've been touched byyour hearts. We jave all benefited bymyour hard work and the "business savvy" needed to keep tis site up and running. We know you. We are hoored ro be your friends and supporters.

With a greatful heart for all you do and admiration for who you are,

Sally and Happy Hannah

Thanks everyone, your love and support means the world to us. It was beautiful to wake up and see this.

There are many things we want to say but won't, because we want to put this behind us. And as one of our mentors says, "Where energy goes, attention flows." We really don't want any more drama or attention to this matter so please no videos or FB fights.

Tripawds has always been a drama-free zone and we've had few incidents like this since we started, I know you'll all help keep it that way. Always remember this community is yours, you make it happen, you create the magic by supporting one another, being there, sharing information and calling on us when you need a place to lean on. We just (try) to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes and prefer to leave it that way.

Thanks again for understanding. xoxo

I would also like to thank Sally for saying what we (or at least me) were all thinking. The one thing I have said time and time again about this site  is that it IS drama free - there is never one ounce of judgement (if it is felt, it is never written). I have never felt badly about posting or grieving or celebrating or not being around. It's unconditional love from virtual strangers. You have created a community that is unlike any other I have been a part of... there are no cliques, no 'group's, no exclusivity. The key that bonds us all is our intense love for our pets (dogs and cats)...

I would agree - Rene - let's not put anymore 'energy' toward this. We know the story. We know where WE stand and we stand as one - one community dedicated to helping each other in exceptionally hard/emotional/roller coaster times ... I have such love for this site that I can't even express in words.

And like Michelle said - the epic meltdown I would surely have had if it wasn't for this group through my journey but then the kindness of strangers and warm love and wishes when Shelby passed from all over the world. Thank you all.

XOXO
