Whoever came up with those statistics about osteosarcoma needs to make a revision or two....
Sunday, March 17, 2012 marks a momentous day in Tripawds history for Josie the Blue Great Dane. On this date, Josie lost her leg to osteosarcoma in 2010.....three years ago!
Please join me in giving a big THREE PAWS UP to Josie, for tossing the odds out the window and giving hope and encouragement to dogs everywhere, especially the big kids.
We hope that some day, every dog is as fortunate as she is and better yet, that no dog ever has to lose a leg to bone cancer.
Congratulations & Happy Ampuversary Josie!

What an inspiration you are. And you just confirmed Jerry's theory that "statistics show that nine out of ten statistics are wrong". What a beautiful girl. I think k a whole lot of love was a great part of her continued success story. Thanks for sharing and giving tremendous hope and inspiration to all.
Enjoy the journey, Sally and Happy Hannah
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Beautiful, distinguished lady! Congrats! You are an inspawration!
Remind us: what was her chemo protocol? Is she on metronomics ?
~ Katy
ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12. Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ! No side effects. We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments. He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors! Our love. Our funny little guy!
I love these stories!
Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13. Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14. She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self. Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14
So excellent! We have been holding our collective breaths for the last 7 months (OS - front leg amp 9-17-12). Trying to keep the weight down. He was 173 pre-op and we've kept it in the 150 to 155 range. He's 8 years old and maybe 11 is not too much to hope for. One of these days I'll post a pic of the new and svelt Pumba playing at the dog park.
Thanks for the great (Dane) news!
