As I'm sure you know, the early days are the toughest, so I hope you're all doing okay and giving yourselves lots of time and space and grace. It takes a minute to find your way to the new life. For us, it took a while to get from "medical recovery" to "lifestyle adjustments." This forum is SO useful, both for logistical help and pep talks. I'll be thinking of you guys. Lots of love to brave, amazing Kelly!Â

Thank you for sharing! Kelly, our 13-year-old Labernese, has a mastocytoma and last week, the oncologist mentioned that she would need to be amputated to stop the masses from appearing on her right front leg. We had always said that we didn't want to go to this option, but we want what's best for her and for her to have a good quality of life. So we made the difficult decision to have her amputated, which was done on Friday. We discovered the book "Three Legs and a Spare " which we read carefully, and then I registered on the website. Back with Kelly yesterday, we were already more confident about how to help her heal and stories like yours are very encouraging. Thank you again! Â
Hi Catherine and Kelly! Be sure to start a new topic all your own so we can follow along and support you in your journey. Glad you found us! A mastocytoma is pretty unusual around here! Hope she's doing well!
