Hi Kelly and Woody, welcome. Your future posts won't need approval. So sorry that Woody needed his leg removed, what is the cause?
It's very odd you just joined, we have a brand new Dachshund, Ellie, who just started blogging and is having surgery on Tuesday. You two will be partners in this journey!
Through the years we've had a few Doxies join us, here are some search results you might find interesting.
Meanwhile, be sure to check out Jerry's Required Reading List and the Tripawds e-books Library, lots of your questions will be answered there, and this great community will jump in too so hang in there. I hope he gets to come home soon!

Just want to say you have come to the right place!!! And as Jerry said, another little Doxie is going throught the same thing! Crazy, huh?
Why does your buddy have to jave the amp?
Most surgeons keep the dogs over night, so don t be surprised if Woody spends the night.
The first wo weeks of recovery can be pretty tough. It is major surgery and it takes a bit of time to get the pain meds balanced sometimes. AND, on top of that, the pain meds can make them a little whacky somet k mes.
The first two weeks you'll want to keep Woody quiet and limit his walks to potty time.....no jumping, no stair climbing, etc. If you jave hardwood floors, make sure you get some non slip scatter rugs to prevent him from slipping.
Most importantly, stay connected tonus. We've all been throughnit and we understand the fear and shock AND devotion like no others can!
You are not alone, okay?
Check back in after you talk with your vet. And we would love to hear more about Woody!
Hugs!
