hello friends! We are back from our little vacation and the doggie SO HAPPY we are home! She's so smart - she knew all the little beeps of my sitter's text messages were me, almost home 🙂
She's doing beautifully - really, there is nothing that could have gone better. Had her stitches out last week - off the meds. Walking!!
We start her chemo tomorrow. We're doing the more expensive stuff, so it's better for her heart. I'm a little anxious... I hope she does alright with it.
Meanwhile, we are all so very happy to be able to go upstairs together - the bed is soooo much more comfy than the futon downstairs! 🙂
WONDERFUL UPDATE.....actually, SPECTACULAR UPDATE!!
YAAAAAAAAAY FOR SLEEPING IN THE BED! Look at that photo......THAT is one happy doggy!
The thing about chemo, if there are any adverse reactions, you can stop. No worries, okay?
Looking forward to more great updates!
Hugs!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Great news! Please keep us posted.

Wonderful - so happy she is doing well!
Lisa and Pofi
Lisa, Minneapolis
On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly. His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.
I'm just catching up, not sure how I never saw your posts, but...
Athla is so beautiful! What an amazing girl! I'm so happy for you that things are going well.
Donna
Donna, Glenn & Murphy
Murphy had his right front leg amputated due to histiocytic sarcoma at 7 years old. He survived 4 years, 2 months & 1 week, only to be taken by hemangiosarcoma at 11 1/2 years 6/12/17

Thank you all SO MUCH!
Firstly - LOOK AT THIS VIDEO. LOOK AT HER RUN. O M G.
Secondly - it's day 5 after her first carbo chemo treatment... and she's perfect. No change. Hungry. Happy. ENERGY (see above) - poops normal. I am just amazed.
I know she could still get sick before that 7 day mark, but I was expecting this weekend to be a sh*tshow (literally) and... she's been so great. She's figured out how to get on the bed and couch again! The only thing we do is help her up the stairs - coming down she's fine.
SO HAPPY
Wow !!! Look at your girl running !!! What joy to see !
And great news about chemo, really pleased she is doing so well !
We all end up jogging with our babies whether we like it or not, hey?
Sending you a big hug and cuddles to your gorgeous, gorgeous baby girl

thanks so much, everyone 🙂 🙂
I brought her with me to the office today, so I thought I'd share an update about her!
Chemo - she had her first week of it - we are doing Carbo. She had ZERO side effects. Her sub sequential blood work shows lower white blood cells, as expected, but nothing serious. (Are we sure it's enough? I mean, I don't want her to get sick but I want it to work!)
We have started her on 200mg of vitamin E and 500 mg of C in the morning, and 4 hours after dinner I give her a little cottage cheese with 100ish mg of artemesinin.
I am continually amazed by her strength. She rarely falls - going up the stairs is the hardest part for her, but she gets back up and tries again. Sometimes I worry about her back leggie knee, but she seems to be ok.
She asked to go running with me Saturday morning. We clocked about a mile, on and off jogging. She likes it when we get going a little faster - seems easier for her to move quickly than hop slowly!
Pretty girl! It must be hard for people to work when you're around, you're so pretty I'll bet they stare into your gorgeous eyes all day long!
And yep, it's definitely easier for Tripawds to move quickly, it's a balance thing.
Yay for Athla! We're amazed by her too (and your great attitude...pawesome!)

You rock on Athia!!
Actually, there is a theory out there that a somewhat low wbc means the chemo is working. So no worries. My Halpy Hannah ahd rour rounds also. No side effects and she seemed to sail through each one flawlessly. Hopi g the same for your BEAUTIFUL Athia!
WOW! Quite a run for you Athia! Make sure you rest plenty in between. Good job!
Hugs!

I just saw my therapist for the first time in a while. And we came to some startling discoveries
1) This will be the first time in my entire life that I’m consciously choosing to be present during an event that I know is going to be really painful, instead of just shutting down emotionally, because Athla deserves my presence. Really, she does. She is a wonderful creature and I have already decided no matter how hard this is, I will be emotionally available, until the end.
2) My entire body is like, f*ck that, we’ve never done that, we don’t do that, and no - so as I grieve (even though she’s fine right now) my cells and body physically are fighting my mind = pain, anxiety, etc.
3) I have never felt loved by any living creature in my whole life, including people, like Athla loves me. I am her world. (And she’s mine.) Only with her have I ever felt so important and ok and perfect and a miracle just as I am. And I’ll lose that, one day. And I am afraid.
Everyone knows this. I’m last to the party. Why else would a million people, most who have never met Athla, come together in a matter of hours and raise enough money to cover her surgery? Give us more time.
I’m so humbled by her. And I am so thankful for her. And I’m so scared to live without her, whenever that may be.
