Fingers crossed! I say, keep up the stroller rides through the area to keep his energy and mood elevated. Getting out of the house is good for everyone!
I hope the best for him, as he's so darling and so deserving. I hope he pulls through this!!!

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12. Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ! No side effects. We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments. He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors! Our love. Our funny little guy!
We are ALL pulling for you Silas!! Come on Prednisone, do you magic!!
I wouldn't be too upset if it took more than five days to show improvement It's not only the Pred. at work, but also staying inactive, soit may, ndeed, take a little longer. It will cometo me, but someone posted on Libby's thread, that their dog's back legs were pretty much immobile for sevrral weeks due to the disc thing.
I love that you have that wagon for him.....it sounds like it's doing wonders for his morale......and yours too!!!
I love his "Ninja" picture! He's just such a cuddle bear!! Would love to see more pics when you can! He's such a magnificent and handsome boy!
Just a side note on the xrays...have you asked the vet about working with you on a payment plan for those?
You are doing everything possible for Silas and I KNOW he's enjoying all the loving and spoiling you are giving him! As hard as it is, try snd stayninnthe present withnyourboy and enjoy being together. Remembr, he's not worried about a thing!! Well...the Pred. will make him hungrier, so he may be worried about his next meal!
Sending you healing energy snd lots of hugs!

It's been a while since I updated because I wanted to have a solid diagnosis first. We got that today. Silas' x-rays show changes in the bone of his hip and spine consistent with early stage bone tumors.
His oncologist has said that there is nothing that can really be medically done for him at this point. Just maintain quality of life as long as I can and take advantage of the time we have left together. I was so ready to fight for him, to go after the disease until it let him go and gave me back my best friend. But, apparently with cancer sometimes the battle has been lost before you even realize that you should have been fighting.
I want to thank everyone, you have all been so helpful and supportive through all of this. And I know that you will continue to be so through the end and beyond. Thank you.
I'm sorry to read this post... and I can only offer one suggestion.... love him up.. spoil him rotten and eat lots of ice cream. We all have those diagnoses that come back and we know what is in store... but until that day.. until Silas tells you he is not having fun anymore and that he wants to go play... enjoy and be more dawg!!
Cancer is so limited
It cannot cripple love
It cannot shatter hope
It cannot corrode faith
It cannot destroy peace
It cannot kill friendship
It cannot suppress memories
It cannot silence courage
It cannot invade the soul
It cannot steal eternal life
It cannot conquer the spirit. and most of all, it will never, ever destroy the bond that you have with Silas!
Christine..... with Franklin in her heart♥
Franklin, he was the Happiest Dog on Three Legs! Diagnosed 09/26/2012 with Osteosarcoma, amputated 12/4/2012. Had a wonderful 5 1/2 months painfree until he ran for the Bridge on 5/15/2013. Always in my heart, and always a guardian angel of my pack... You can follow his Tripawd Adventures, before and after, in my blog, Frank'n'Farter!
I am so sorry to hear this.... This thing we call cancer is so awful and its so unfair. Praying for you as you endure this change in your journey. Let us know if you need anything.. even if its just to vent
Cody and Family
Cody is our 7 year old Australian Heeler mix boy. Diagnosed on 2/20/14 and became a tripawd 2/21/14! We chose a homeopathic approach and he is being treated by Dr. Loops our of NC.
I'm so sorry.....
Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13. Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14. She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self. Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14
Oh guys, I'm very sorry, I know you've done so much and given this all you've got, it just breaks our hearts when cancer keeps doing what it wants to do. It is a horrible disease. I hope that Christine's poem she posted helped ease the pain of this news.
If it's any help at all, try to rememberthat Silas doesn't care or understand what those test results mean, he just wants to be with the people he loves the most, he's not thinking about tomorrow or the day after that, just here and now. So get out there, take him for a stroll in his wagon if you can, feed him ice cream and pizza, make every moment count. I know you get that.
What did the onco give you for pain control? Did they talk about bisphosphonates at all?
And yes, you bet we are here for you now and always.

So sorry to hear this news cancer is a sneaky awful disease. I love the wagon idea. He looks so cute in there. I like what Sally says, he does not even know what cancer is. The beauty of being a dog. These are the times, we wish we thought like a dog. Hugs from us to you, Lori & TY
TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
Okay, ditto everyone...a d do check nto the opti s Jerry suggested.
Happy Hannah sends her own perso al "ditto" to the pizza and ice cream diet. She's convinced it's worked well for her extending her quality ti e.
My heart breaks for you. We all have to do everything we can to give our dogs and cats and chance...and if we don't TRY, I think that's where a dlse of regret could seep k . YOU TRIED!! You gave...and are still giving...Silas the best chance possible!!!
All he knows is he's being spoled and loved ore than he ever imagned could be possible....and he'll lap that up ntil it wears him out!
The hardest part of this journey is ti let NOTHING rob you of your time together because he sre isn't!! Stay i the mome t fully
present. Maxi utt told me recently. a d I'll
araphrase..."You know yo have Silas with you today, and tomorrow too..-and that's as far ahead as you need to think."
Now go give Silas a snuggle and everyone will feel better!
And yoj better believe we are ALL right by your side wherever this journey leads.....always have been, always we'll be!
Sending yo love. And Happh Hannah's sendingover a Pizza topped with ice cream and M&M's.
