Thanks again for all the helpful advice everyone!
We just heard back from the vet this morning and the toe lump is not cancerous. It is inflammatory cells so they are not sure what it is but I am so relieved that it isn't cancer! He is scheduled for amputation tomorrow. I am really nervous. I know he will be fine but I'm still nervous for him. Going to go get a bunch of carpet runners before he comes home.
This site is so helpful! I never realized how many things are available for tripawds!
Greatfuldanes I am glad your Dane is doing well despite all he's been through!! Is his name Tigger? My other dane also has Wobbler's, degenerative myelopathy and a ccl repair. For your dog to be doing well on three legs is awesome!! I will definitely look into the neoplasene.
Great news about the diagnosis! Best wishes for a complete speedy recovery, please keep us posted.

That's amazing Zane. He is a brindle and has always been a tigger of sorts. Now that he bounces off his one back leg as though it's a spring- he has truly become a Tigger!
Good luck this week! Did you remember to get a good harness like the webmaster by ruffwear? It will be invaluable in helping to get Sterling to his feet after surgery.
Here's some video that I just made of Zane a few days ago. He is just 6 weeks post amp.

Oh my gosh. I am so sorry. We all know it is a possibility but none of us expect it. My heart is just breaking for you. I wish there were words to give you that would help but I know there are not. Sterling was a beautiful boy.

Just what is going on around here, I am so sorry to hear this. The actual surgery is the one thing I usually don't have any worries about, I hope they will or did give you a reason as to why this happened, for your own sense of comfort or closure. Geesh, I don't know what to say, our sympathy to you and your family, Spirit Gus and Dan
My buddy Gus had a left front amputation on April 7, 2010 and lived a great life until July 26,2010
I am so sorry to read that Sterling died during his surgery. How very sad. My deepest condolences.

We are heartbroken, this is so, so tragic and we are deeply sorry. This is not the news we thought we would hear.
Why things like this happen, we have no idea. It really, really hurts.
We just can't believe it, and send our deepest sympathies to you and your family. Please let us know if there is anything we can do.

We are so sorry.
In a tragic coincidence we had just posted an interview with Dr. Pam discussing such complications and how they are very rare and extremely difficult to predict. Please accept our most sincere condolences.
