I am having three glasses of champagne tonight in celebration of this wonderful occasion.
Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. I just have to share...
I took Bud to the dogter today for his well being check up.
The visit went great! His blood work was perfect. He was examined and deemed a healthy dog!
But then the visit got even better! The Dr said..."well isn't Bud coming up on a couple of years now?" and I said "yes, yesterday was his ammpuversary". She said "I have never heard that termed in such a positive fun way before. Would you mind if I referred people to you as a resource when they are facing this? I can talk until I am blue in the face but until they see a three legged dog like Bud, they just don't get how good life can be for a amputee". I said "sure of course! We are Tripawd members and I would be happy to point them into that direction to all of the resources they might need. Everything from how to set up their house, what to expect in their recovery and lots of folks with 3legged dogs full of insight". She then said "well I am going to file this conversation and remember it for the future".
So anyway, we may just have been given the opportunity to represent Tripawds in our own community!
What a journey this has been and what a special dog Bud is! I would have never purposely asked to be in this position. However being given the purpose to help others facing amputation or MRSA makes my heart full!

Pawesome!
This is exactly why we have Tripawds Info Cards and Fliers in the Tripawds Downloads blog . Please consider printing some out for your vet. If they do lots of amputations or treat many cancer patients, ask them if they would place a Tripawds Info Display in their lobby that will hold the cards for others to take when facing the decision to amputate. Thanks!

Sorry we are late to the party. We'll never forget the February Furballs. Here's to Angels Rio and Dakota - they are gone but not forgotten - and congrats to Bud on earning that rib-eye steak!
Glad to hear he had a great check up. Keep on keepin' on, Bud!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman.
