I discovered Jerry on YouTube watching my friend Josh's video. He is doing The Trail from Maine back to Charlotte, NC in honor of cancer survivors, fighters, winners, and losers. He is calling it Hike4hope and you can look him up at Hike4hope.net.
He usually takes his dog Tali, but she is getting to old to do such a long haul. I was wondering where u live b/c he would love to meet Jerry on the trail! Please visit his site and give to one of the charities he is supporting if you feel a common need to beat the C monster. It touches us all these days. He is a cancer survivor also. I met him through Drumstrong, a very cool event.
Love your site!! Animals are wonderful. People are pretty good fighters too.
peace to you-
Michelle
Thanks for the great links and best of luck to Josh! You obviously mean the Appalachian Trail, and this movie of where I hiked it for a bit in Vermont ...
My people and I travel the country in and RV and are currently in Lake
City, Colorado for the summer. We have crossed the Appalachian and
Continental Divide trails a few times. And back when I had four legs we
hiked part of the Pacific Crest. But unfortunately, we don't live anywhere near "The Trail".
Thanks again for letting us know about Josh's Hike4hope!

I followed Josh Davis's link http://www.hike4hope.net and watched several of his videos. His story is amazing as he has had to overcome a diagnosis of stage 3 colon cancer and, the doctors, as usual tried to blame it on something else, while this terrible disease was eating him alive.
I, too, am a cancer survivor (lung cancer, adenocarcinoma), but they caught mine early. They did watch the tumor grow for a whole year before they decided they better operate, but thank goodness it was a slow growing tumor. I did not have to do the chemo thing, but I still lost over 70+ lbs which makes me between a size 2 to size 4 and I'm almost 5'11" tall.
I admire Josh for his guts in dealing with this disease. He looks so thin in his videos. I hope he beats his cancer; he seems like a fine young man.
