So imagine my surprise when today in class, our instructor says we are going to be learning about the animal/human connection and will be watching a video called, "why we love cats and dogs". I was excited to watch, as I had never seen it before, but I must say, I completely lost it in class (how embarrassing!!!). I think people thought I was crying because I was upset, but it was quite the opposite...the connection that Jerry had to Jim and Rene, and the one they had to him and eachother was a relationship that allowed them to live out their lives enjoying one day at a time. This one dog and these two people have now made it possible for others like us here, to feel welcomed, loved, supported, and not quite so alone in what we are facing. The part where you have Jerry in the clinic and are looking at his x-rays and the vet is telling you the prognosis, the look you guys give eachother is full of so many things...sadness, fear, love, understanding...it brought back all the old memories, but this time with a renewed sense of, "we will get through this". The tears were not from sadness, they were from relief, that even when we feel at our lowest, we have a place to turn. So thank you, Jerry, and thank you Jim and Rene.

Wow. Talk about a small world – and I guess it also means that Jerry, Jim and Rene are very big in the doggy world! (we can say we knew them when . . .) I can see why you lost it. I would lose it for sure.
Will they let Cap'n Jack visit the class?!? That would be the best.
. . . Then we can start to look ahead to the next generation of video with Wyatt, Jim and Rene. Yep, I can see them rolling their eyes, but I'm sure the day will come, won't it?????
(p.s. it took years after my last soul-mate dog to realize I had bonded with Tazzie. by then, and now, he is irreplacable.)
That is so neat!
I haven't see the program either except for the small footage on here.
Rene and Jim are special people! I probably couldn't watch either without crying. And I haven't dealt with anything you guys have!

Cometdog are you kidding? Whadda ya mean you haven't dealt with anything we have? I'd say that after all of what you went through with Rugby you deserve a medal and lotsa hugs for that. Can't even imagine.
And if you have too much time on your hands someday, the entire episode can be watched online here. Oh, but you can skip the cat agility scenes if you'd like! 😉

Awwww, thank you. Yeah, the producer did an amazing job on the whole episode, she is pawesome. She also did another great dog-centric show called "No Dogs Left Behind" that recently aired on the Military Channel. A great show about Iraq dogs that were brought home by soldiers. Now that's a real tear-jerker. Check it out if you get a chance.

I loved the Iraq dog show! I watched it when it came out a couple of months ago.

REALLY?! Let's see, I wimped on the amputation (and also removing the extra toes Comet has) and I dealt with cancer for only 3 hours!
BUT if you got any Dualpawd awards for handling 8 weeks with a 2 legged dog after TPLO surgery, I'll gladly take those! (GIMME 2, since I did it twice!)
<---- me feeling sickly thinking about it!
