I've been trying for the past two days to write some really eloquent blog and forum post to mark today. Two years ago I let Maggie go on to her next adventure. We had been through a 4.5 year cancer battle with mast cell cancer then oral melanoma. Maggie's story is detailed in her blog.
It is hard to explain the impact a little three-legged pug can have on your life. I have learned to Be More Dog ! But it is a work in progress, a never-ending quest to understand fully what that means.
Geeze, I was a slow learner though. Maggie had to beat her first cancer so she could hang around and educate me!
I can't imagine how I would have gotten through all that life has thrown at me over the past two years without the lessons Maggie helped me learn.
So even though I can't really find the words I want, I do know that I don't feel sad today. Today I feel so grateful for our time together; the good times and the hard times.
Thanks Spud- I miss you.

We are grateful for the time you shared her with us. She made us smile, laugh and feel love. I don't think eloquent speeches are needed when it comes from the heart. What you said was just perfect.
Maggie was and forever will be with us in spirit.
As a side note, thank you for being a terrific friend and a wonderful source of support to everyone (with a dose of funny dry wit). I feel privileged to have gotten to know you over the years.
I honor your girl today, not with tears but with a remembrance of memories we shared that brings a big smile.
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
What a lovely post to remember your sweet girl by. I know she would be oh-so-proud of you for all the strength, wisdom and compassion you have shared with SO MANY of us on this site. I'm sure she is smiling, just like in that adorable picture.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Karen, I wish I could have met your Maggie. I feel like I know her though through your blog and all your wonderful advice that you give so many people.
I never got a chance to thank you for the warm welcome you gave Rizzo and I the day of the Canine Cancer Walk in Elk Grove. You are a true ambassador of Tripawds that Jerry, Jim and Renae should be proud to have. I am always amazed how you welcome all new bloggers and any new person on the forums.
I know how it made me feel and I know it makes others feel like a part of something special here at Tripawds when it's a really scary time in our lives. Thanks again, and I love your tribute to your sweet girl Maggie!
All my Best,
Suzie and Rizzo

Awe, Karen, that is such a lovely photo of you and Maggie! The concept of being more dog sure is hard to grasp at times for me too. I will always remember the "other" Maggie and the impact she has had on all of us here! Many hugs to you!!

Love Never Ends
Sometimes the "right" words aren't necessary when it comes to speaking from the heart. It's hard to believe that two years have gone by. Maggie's spirit is still very alive and well here, and always will be.
So today, no tears....we also celebrate the life that Maggie led, and the bond that you two shared. What an honor for Tripawds to be a part of it, thank you!
You also deserve a paws up, Karen, for being here to help so many through their own journey. We can't tell you how much it means to us to know that you're such a good friend to so many folks when they need it most. Thank you so very much.

Karen, I was offline most of yesterday but wanted to add my two cents. I also wish I could have met your girl. I am drawn to opinionated, willful, deliberate dogs who have their own agenda. (Surprised?)
When I think about all the things I've read about Maggie, I think of her as being stubborn and willful because she knew what was best for you. Maybe she wasn't actually stubborn; she was just determined to put your feet on the path she knew they needed to be on. Maybe before you knew of the concept, she was already guiding you to Be More Dog . As you said, Maggie could have been sighing heavily and thinking "this woman is such a slow learner."
You turned out to be an excellent student and now are an excellent teacher. You've helped so many people here learn what it means to Be More Dog . Thank you.

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.
Dakota's thoughtful and erudite blog is at http://shari.tr.....pawds.com/
We have always believed that the dog you have was sent to you for a reason. Maggie had lessons to teach you and when she finished, it was on to her next adventure.
Countless times to tons of people we have told the story of when Maggie and Cemil got together at the Mill Valley Dog park they would cruise around and meet and greet all the folks sitting on the bench's. When we looked for them, they would be waaayyy on the other side of park doing what two best friends did best, being friendly and showing that no matter how different we look, no matter how big or small we are, it's great to hang with your buds and do what you enjoy.
We were so fortunate to get to meet and know Maggie. Everytime I see her picture or tell the story, I get a smile on my face.
Well done Maggie and Karen, thanks.
