We just got a call from Lisa Scarsi, a pet photographer who became a friend of ours a few years ago after the first time she photographed Max and Linda. Lisa is a truly gifted artist who took some amazing photos of our dogs, and recently proved her skills again when she took a picture of Bernie bin Laden that makes him look dignified, serene, and positively regal – in short, everything our little terrorist actually isn't.
Anyway, Lisa liked Max's and Bernie's faces so much that she's used them in her print advertising and in photos she's donated to animal shelters and veterinary offices. This image of Max is on display at a local vet's office:
Lisa recently sent us an e-mail to tell us Max's photo has surfaced once again:
John and Diane,
I got a call from a client about the current issue of Sunset magazine. She was so excited to see her dog Oliver's photo on page 26. The article about Desert Hot Springs features a dog-friendly resort called DogSpa and very large canvas prints of my photographs are hanging in the main lounge. I did not know DogSpa would be in the issue so I did not know that one of Max' portraits would be in there too!! Unfortunately they did not credit the pooches, but we know it's Max and that his legacy lives on!!!
So I picked up a couple of copies of the February 2012 issue of Sunset, and sure enough, there's our boy's picture on page 26. I can't think of a better place for his picture to hang, overlooking a room that's always full of happy dogs playing and chasing each other around. Max would never have wanted to leave such a place, and now he doesn't have to.
Very cool !
I've got to add too, that Max's eye, I swear, it's like his pupil is actually adjusting.
Seriously.
Love it!
Max will always be your Happy Happy Boy.

OMD, that's so awesome! And we have that magazine! I just went and got my copy and dog-eared (appropriate...) that page so I can show Mike when he gets home.
The picture is classic and what an awesome spot for Max to get to be!
Love it,
Jackie, Angel Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!

Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Thanks everyone. I've been a photographer for a long time, but I've never come close to taking a picture like that. Lisa is an incredible photographer who always manages to bring out the best in a dog. And anyone who can make Bernie bin Laden look calm and serene is in a class by themselves.
